What new or enhanced feature are you proposing? On the Hotkeys tab of the Options window, provide a way for users to reset a particular action to its default hotkey combination, (which would be nice to be able to see before reseting to it). If that combination is currently assigned to another action, ask the user what to do. A "Restore defaults" button on that tab to reset them all would be good, too. Actually, what do you think of this: Insert a new "Default" column of buttons between Description and Keys. Rename "Keys" to "Custom". The default buttons' labels would always be the default combo for the actions, but each would only be enabled when that default wasn't already the combo in effect. Clicking an enabled default button would reset the hotkey for that action to that default. The custom button would retain its current combo and stay enabled--it just wouldn't be the combo in effect anymore. Single-clicking a custom button not already in effect (which the user would know based on whether the default button were enabled or not) would put it into effect. Single-clicking a custom button already in effect would prompt the user to enter a new custom combo. What goal would this enhancement help you achieve? The basic ability to reset to default would allow me to roll back my unsuccessful attempt to set a hotkey to Win-PrtSc to whatever it was before. :-D The specific mechanism I suggest would not only allow the user to reset an action to its default combo, but let them see what that default is before doing so. As a bonus, they could retain their most recent custom combo per action while using the default combo again for a while. |

I have considered a 80/20 effort on this proposal. I have made the Default Hotkeys visible for reference purposes. If the user wishes to go back to the default hotkey, he/she can simply change this using their keyboard by referring to the default hotkey - expected duration for this task is about 2 seconds. If there was an additional control to reset the hotkey, the user would have saved about 1 second, but the effort put into getting it working is far more greater. There will be a button to reset all hotkeys to default.
