YouNote
What is YouNote ?

Introduction

YouNote is an application for iPhone that allows you to take quick notes on all sorts of information. This information is accessible and available at all times on your iPhone.

Details

Whatever format the note is in (Drawing, Audio, Text, Photo,...), it is possible to link different criteria (tags, a color, the geolocation,...) which simplifies the filing and finding of the notes.

Since YouNote 1.1, you can now backup and restore your notes on a desktop if you install YouNote Desktop.

More informations on YouNote on Sophiacom web site.

Hy, first of all - this is one of my favorite programs. You are developing a very good idea to the point. Congratulations. Maybe, to fit more needs here are my suggestions for the project developments:

Is it possible to realize an import filter toward IWeb? I just tested your desktop and it works fine, but another ZIP Archive may be ok for interchanging between IPhones, nevertheless I would prefer to import my several notes into IWeb. It must be fun, to import them into the podcast Section, the Movie section ( when Apple opens the cam for video ), the blogging section and finally transferring text into html code. When my notes would find their way into my web server, I could really connect the Iphone experiences with a shortcut to my webserver.

Thanx for your development, Tobias

I would LOVE to be able to easily add items from YouNote into my calender but not necessarily have to assign the items to a particular time of day or even day of the week.

For example, I have several long lists of things to do (or things to buy, or things to look into) and like to be able to look over my lists and then add some of those items to a "to do this week" or "to do today" section of the calendar without having to put in a specific time. I just want to be able to copy items to a timeframe in my calendar. If those items then had some kind of symbol in YouNote so I would know that those are on my calendar - that would be great.

I'd also like to be able to click on the item from the calendar to get the full YouNote detail.

I'm guessing iCal would be easiest at this time to do this for, and what would really be sweet is if it could then be synced through MobileMe? as well.

I am really searching for this type of solution and if you guys could do it, that would rock.

Please feel free to contact me if you want to hear more. I have a lot of ideas around this.

Thanks!!! Tracy

I would love to e-mail a YouNote from the iPhone. I would like to edit he photos I take with it with the freehand drawing tool in Younote to add a note, a circle, a checkmark, etc... to the photo. You have both applications in YouNote, you just need to make them interactive.

Well, I have followed all the instructions and I am unable to make a backup of my YouNote file sin the iPhone to the directory in my Windows XP PC. It tells me that I cannot nake a connectuion to the selected server. IS my IP address incorrect? How do I know which is the right one?

I use the IP address that is given to me in the Connections Help. If iTunes creates a backup I would use it, butI don't see how it does it.

What would be really helpful is a way to get Outlook notes into YouNote, and a way to edit notes on a desktop computer.

Fantastic app. Works smoothly out of the box. Love the tags and search. I'll add another vote for the ability to email notes (top wish). I need the ability to have the content I just noted on my desktop by the time I get back to my desk. Integration with the calendar would also be nice.

Is anyone working on a Linux (specifically, Ubuntu) version of YouNote Desktop?

Is emailing coming in future releases?

This is really a good application, but I would need these two features before I could really use it.

Thanks for contributing to open source with such a creative and (potentially) useful application.

Hi all, Just a quick update : we are waiting for Apple to approve YouNote 1.2 which allows notes emailing and a Linux release should be available soon (thanks very much to a developer who helped us to adapt the code).

Very nice software.

It would be nice to have an landscape keyboard mode and a way to use Itunes to make the automatic sync/backup

Apple - use this great software but default in Iphone !

i know you guys are open source and doing this for nothing, but....i took two audio notes one for 18min & the other 45min. It takes a long time to make archive and then even longer to ssend archive to backup server. while doing this it crashed 3 times. i havent been successful except for once before. not sure if it iphone or your problem. i also had a case with younote where it created a 60min audio file with audio only in the first 3min or so.

Hellow. I would really appreciate if someone tells me how to lock the app. It's just that I don't want other people to what I'm putting in my notes when I lend the ipod to them. Thanks in advance, and try to be patient with the trouble!

did you ever think about a desktop solution for younote? not only for storing data but for advanced editing. I thought about a simple surface where you can merge and edit datas and view them like in the Iphone but bigger. this would be great!

The backup used to work for me but now it gets stuck on the "backup archive is sending to backup server...". I have restarted, reloaded the desktop software etc nothing works. I'm afraid if I cant get this fixed I will be dumping this App and finding one that backs up reliably. Unfortunately, I really like the App.

I have the same issue that it's stuck on "backup archive is sending to backup server...". Any potential fix soon? :)

About the issue with OS 3.0, please go to the home page to get more informations (the home of this web site of course).

I had my phone replaced by Apple. I had three backups on my former phone. Now, when I try to restore, I can only select one backup file and that file is from the second listing on my YouNote Desktop window. In other words, I have two iPhones listed on the left side of the Desktop app. The first entry lists three backup files on the right side of the window. The second entry lists one. This second entry is the only one visible on my iPhone. I can see nor get to the entries on the first iPhone.

How can I get to the backup files from the first entry? I need to restore from a backup file from the first iPhone entry.

Thank you!

Thanks!

Hey hey - I communicated some of these to Philippe but here are a few more: (1) I have been using the YouNote religiously to the pt where I add 10-12 voice notes a day. The app now has close to 600-700 notes and it has slowed its operation down. One of the reasons I let it get to this pt is because the backup still does not work for me. It does the backup it says it is done and then I look for the zip file in the specified folder it is not there. Now each time I try to open the YouNote app to add a new note it takes 1-3 mins to initialize and then it takes 4-5 mins to save it ! (2) the iPhone shows that it has 10GB of content on it but I know that is not true. The YouNote app is causing it to think that it is running out of space. Is it possible that 600 very short voice mails will be worth 10GB?? That does not sound right. (3) Can someone move the Cancel button away from the Ok button? It really stinks to record a long note and then tapping the Cancel button by mistake and losing it all

Thanks - this is a pretty cool app and I am would like to keep using it so please help
