IntroductionThis page describes knowns issues and workarounds when they are available. Abbreviations: DescriptionThe backup doesn't work if iPhone OS 3.0 is installedYN 1.2 and earlier can't back up your notes. Solution: download YN 1.2.1 from the App Store. An alert on your iPhone/iPod Touch displays "Unable to connect to the selected backup server"If you tap the Backup button and have this message, that turns out that YND is unreachable. Solution: disable the firewall on your desktop or enter a port in YND settings and modify the rules of your firewall. The backup fails when the connection between YN and YND is too slowIn certain circumstances, the connection between YN and YND is lost, for example if you backup your notes through internet. YN 1.2 is better but there are still some issues. The backup fails when the archive is too bigWhen the archive is too big (with a lots of AudioNotes for example or only with a big one like a meeting), YN crashes. This is because YN needs to create a zip file of all your notes to backup. YN 1.1.2 is better but there are still some issues. The big improvement will come with YN 1.3 that is waiting for Apple approval. The backup fails but no message is displayedYN backs up your note, the progress bar is displayed but when it's done, no backup archive is stored on your computer. Solution: the archive file is too big. The only workaround currently is to delete some big notes (AudioNote is a good candidate). We are working on a new process: back up note after note directly without create a zip file. The AudioNotes are not always backed upSome AudioNotes created with a prior release of YN are not sent to YND. In consequence, they are not backed up. This issue has been fixed with YN 1.1.1. The backup fails when the iPhone is in standby modeIf the backup phase is too long, your iPhone switches over to standby mode. The consequence is that the connection is broken. This issue has been fixed with YN 1.1.1.

Can this be used with the Ipod Touch? I have tried and I get a message "unable to connect to the selected backup server"
I get the same error, even though I have an iPhone 1.0 and the firewall turned off...
I can't backup one multi note. This file is a diary, and it includes 7 textnotes(1 page each) and 1 pictnote. I create another multinote, so I can backup new one only. Please let me know, how to get out of this situation.
I could backup that file before. After that I deleted backuped file, and added several notes in that multinote. To recover, I re-installed younote desktop, but situation was unchanged.
Hi there, thanks for this app, it's really good when I use it on the iPhone 3G, but after 20mins waiting for the backup process, it showed that " backup failed ". It's very frustrating, because it's my 7th time to try to backup my notes and audionotes. What is the solution?
Thanks
I am new to iPhone. I have over 600 notes inside MS outlook that couldn't syn to iPhone Could YouNote support the import / syn with MS Outlook's Notes?
Greetings I have large audio files on YN on Iphone. YND keeps crashing. Have not yet been able to back up files. Please help. Using 1.1.3
Hi there, I also have the same problem.
Only two audio files on YN(all of other files were deleted), but the backup procedure still crashes. My YN and YND are both up-to-date version.
Please help, thanks.
One more question, Is it possible that it provides the backup procedure via USB in the feature?
Still crashes while downloading the archive file. I've too many audio file around 7 and 10 Mo each.
workaround: For those who wants to download those audio file, you can backup your iPhone with iTunes and your audio files will be store in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync?/Backup/<backupid>/ To find them, sort the list by size and the largest .mddata file will surely be your audio files. Copy them in an another place and rename them with the .caf extension.
For my issue that I listed yesterday where I have a lot of audio notes and because of that the backup does not succeed (the zip file generated as suggested above may be to big). How can I remove that zip file it is already created on the iphone? Or does the backup process eliminate it either if the backup succeeds or not?
Thanks
No comments on my Nov 11 posting? Come on guys you said you do check these postings. I am not sure I like the idea of generating a zip file and then sending it over to the laptop. Why don't you give us the option of sending partial files or file by file transfer?? In my case where the zip file is too big I am stuck and I do have a lot of important notes in there that need to be backed up. Please some help. Thanks
Hi D G. Usually we don't reply to the comments because it's too impersonal (in my mind). But if you look at the project home page, you will see that YN 1.3 won't use zip files. BTW, we added a new technical note in reply to your question about the notes format. Hope that all this informations will help you. Philippe.
