  YouNoteDesktopSettings (Instructions for use) Wiki page commented on by kypriakos   -   URGENT HELP !!! Philippe, I downloaded the 1.3 upgrade hoping to get a better backup scheme for the all important notes I have under 1.2. Well, the upgrade went ok but the app quits on startup! What does that mean?? I cannot afford to lose these notes so please help me recover them. Either tell me how to revert to 1.2 from 1.3 or how to get 1.3 to startup correctly and show my notes. Thanks

  YouNoteDesktopSettings (Instructions for use) Wiki page commented on by mark.daniel.rees   -   As per a fair few other comments by people, I did enjoy this app, but when I followed your instructions to back up, it keeps telling me “Backup failed” right at the end. Please explain why this is? Is there any update to be able to email? Would be much easier, I have stopped using it since there is now an iphone voice recording app that can email, its a shame as i did like younote better.

But if you look at the project home page, you will see that YN 1.3 won't use zip files. BTW, we added a new technical note in reply to your question about the notes format. I am not sure I like the idea of generating a zip file and then sending it over to the laptop. Why don't you give us the option of sending partial files or file by file transfer?? In my case where the zip file is too big I am stuck and I do have a lot of important notes in there that need to be backed up. Please some help. Thanks

How can I remove that zip file it is already created on the iphone? Or does the backup process eliminate it either if the backup succeeds or not? Thanks

It would be nice to be able to play them somewhere off the mobile device as well! I am sure that won't tell us much of the secrets of the YouNote team so can you please let me know how I can do that? Wiki page commented on by kypriakos   -   Hey hey - I communicated some of these to Philippe but here are a few more: (1) I have been using the YouNote religiously to the pt where I add 10-12 voice notes a day. The app now has close to 600-700 notes and it has slowed its operation down. One of the reasons I let it get to this pt is because the backup still does not work for me. It does the backup it says it is done and then I look for the zip file in the specified folder it is not there. Now each time I try to open the YouNote app to add a new note it takes 1-3 mins to initialize and then it takes 4-5 mins to save it ! (2) the iPhone shows that it has 10GB of content on it but I know that is not true. The YouNote app is causing it to think that it is running out of space. Is it possible that 600 very short voice mails will be worth 10GB?? That does not sound right. (3) Can someone move the Cancel button away from the Ok button? It really stinks to record a long note and then tapping the Cancel button by mistake and losing it all Thanks - this is a pretty cool app and I am would like to keep using it so please help

  YouNoteBackupRestore (How backup and restore your notes ?) Wiki page commented on by JimHurley   -   Have latest YouNote on my iPhone and the latest YouNote Desktop as of 25th October 2009. YouNote on the phone finds the server fine and starts the backup but just after "Creation of backup archive" the backup fails... EVERY time. The only thing that seemed to help was ad-hock but it just started transmitting the archive and failed before it finished.

Now, when I try to restore, I can only select one backup file and that file is from the second listing on my YouNote Desktop window. In other words, I have two iPhones listed on the left side of the Desktop app. The first entry lists three backup files on the right side of the window. The second entry lists one. This second entry is the only one visible on my iPhone. I can see nor get to the entries on the first iPhone. How can I get to the backup files from the first entry? I need to restore from a backup file from the first iPhone entry. Thank you! Thanks!

I have restarted, reloaded the desktop software etc nothing works. I'm afraid if I cant get this fixed I will be dumping this App and finding one that backs up reliably. Unfortunately, I really like the App.
