I am amazed that those of us who work in the IT industry still rely on word documents and the whim of the author to describe our experience, qualifications, strengths and weaknesses. I see two key problems with the current system: - There is no standard format for an IT resume/cv: candidates are unsure as to what information they should present and how to present it. Recruiters find it hard to compare resumes because they have to search through each CV looking for the information they need.
- Even if we do agree on a standard format, how can recruiters find the information they are seeking quickly and easily? Currently automated searches are limited to a word search against all the CVs in the database. This is far too hit and miss because the data in the CV is not structured.
Proposed solution We define a vocabulary and a structure for IT CVs using an XML Schema. See benefits WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Find out how you can participate - Join us now! Any questions? send me an email: toby.hobson@gmail.com
