issue 208 (CCIT compressed TIFF file created in Gimp are displayed vide...) reported by nicop2p   -   First of all, if you have any Haxies, InputManagers, SIMBL plugins or similar operating system hacks installed, please remove them first, restart the program, and make sure the bug is reproducible without them. What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Open Gimp 2. Create an image in indexed color with a white background 3. Write some text in black 4. Save as TIFF with CCITT Group 3 or 4 Fax compression What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Black pixels appear white and white pixels appear black. Open the attached file "demo.tif" in Preview.app and in XEE to see the difference. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? XEE 2.1 OSX 10.6.2 Please provide any additional information below.

What steps will reproduce the problem? Not a problem, enhancement request. I'd like to be able to see EXIF data associated with an image directly from within Xee. Say you're viewing an image in full-screen mode... wouldn't it be cool if you could hit one key and show EXIF data associated with an image as an overlay of the current image? That would save so much time because right now I have to load up another app to see EXIF data :( Thanks for the best image viewer there is!

issue 205 (Random Hangs & Pinwheels) Status changed by paracelsus   -   Turns out it was pretty simple once I could reproduce it. For some reason, testing if an FSRef is valid is *really* slow, but the code should work without doing that, too, so I just removed the check. Well, hopefully it works right. It's a lot faster, at least.

issue 206 (I would like to be able to keep Mac Preview as my default.) reported by magiclogic   -   I use Mac OS 10.5.8 and will install Snow Leopard when I know most software will work. Xee is excellent and thank you for such a wonderful thing. However Preview offers some things I need on a day-to-day basis. I would love to switch to Xee for your great new additions when required. I really do not want to uninstall Xee, but since it opens as a default I am sad that might be my only alternative. I have checked everywhere for a way to switch it off until required. Have I missed something? That is quite possible. I have also looked through the forum [as we do]. Oh ... and thanks again. Best wishes, Ian in Melbourne, Australia. magician@bigpond.net.au

issue 205 (Random Hangs & Pinwheels) commented on by karl.haase   -   I got a little more time to experiment. I think the problem is related to the number of files in the directory. In a directory with fewer images in it (~20 in this case) I can delete files and then load the next or previous image without much pause. Going back to the thousands-of-files directory, the problem returns.

issue 205 (Random Hangs & Pinwheels) commented on by karl.haase   -   I got it to come back. Or, at least I managed to make a similiar behavior come back. Some more background: there are about 2700 photos in this directory. The hickup seems to be related to deleting an image. If I press command-delete to move the current image to the trash, Xee loads the next image in the sequence and shows it to me, however it will then pinwheel if I try to go back one in the sequence. These pauses are about 30 seconds long. I'm not sure this is my original problem... I'm sure i was just browsing the images as quickly as they could be loaded. I'm not clued in enough to be sure this is the right idea, but I have Shark Time Profiles for this (3 of them) that seem to indicate that Xee is rebuilding and sorting a list of files in the directory when this happens. I could send these to you if you'd like.

issue 205 (Random Hangs & Pinwheels) commented on by karl.haase   -   I went back to 2.0 after posting this. But then I read your response, re-downloaded the binary to snoop some more (I always wanted a good reason to use Shark....), and it seems so much happier now. I fear some corruption must have been involved with the first one. Thanks for looking into this anyway.

issue 205 (Random Hangs & Pinwheels) commented on by paracelsus   -   Unfortunately, that is not enough information to go on to fix anything, as I don't get that behavior on my machine at all. If you can narrow it down to something more specific, that would help a lot.

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Open Image in directory with many images (all DSC_1234.JPG style) 2. Browse them (command-Left and Right) 3. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Image opens part way, then mouse becomes pinwheel. Activity Viewer Inspect -Process counts this as a "Recent Hang" What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? -Xee 2.1, OS 10.4.11, Dual 1GHz G4ll Please provide any additional information below. Xee 2.0 does no exhibit this behavior, additionally, Xee 2.0 feels faster overall, as though something is "gumming up" 2.1. Thanks! I appreciate such a cool, FREE app. You're awesome.

issue 20 (Applescript support) commented on by narjalita   -   Yes - workflow script comands - crop, save, save as, replace, delete, next. I also use Xee to quickly move through batch of photos -- cropping, saving, renaming, deleting as I go. Being able to set up a script to, for example, save a file with a pre-set appended name (e.g., myphoto-cropped.jpg) would be a big timesaver and convenience.
