WPTranslator is a now incorrectly named project. This program translates documents from WordPerfect 4.2 format into more modern word-processing document formats, initially HTML and RTF. It differs from the open-source project libwpd in that it is written in Java and only supports WordPerfect version 4.2. This program was created so that my dad, who still uses WordPerfect 4.2, would have some way to print out his documents.

This project was originally named wp41translator because I planned to write the translator for WordPerfect 4.1 format. Later I found that my dad was actually using version 4.2. Unfortunately, I cannot change the name on Google Code. However, I believe the formats for both versions to be quite similar, and if you are looking for a translator for WordPerfect 4.1, you might give this one a try!

Eventually, I plan to create a Swing interface, a Java WebStart interface, and a Java Applet.
