Wonderflux is built from the ground-up to take advantage of WordPress 3.0 and above. It allows you to rapidly develop highly sophisticated, custom WordPress themes with just a handful of files (minimum is just style.css) using the principle of a Child theme.

Wonderflux supports all the latest and greatest WordPress functionality to deliver unparalleled design opportunities for both new and experienced WordPress designers. It's a solid, easy to update, flexible platform you can use for any WordPress website.

Please see WFX Girder as an example of a Wonderflux child theme.

Features

Just a few of the highlights in the current beta:

  • Simple to use, location aware template parts allow you to concentrate on the content, not the code.
  • A fully dynamic CSS grid system, with simple administration controls (much more to come on this during the beta development phase!).
  • Easy to understand XHTML/CSS display functions to help you build bullet-proof, valid code.
  • Powerful extra display functions to add advanced functionality to your Wonderflux child theme quickly and easily.
  • Over 100 display hooks to allow you to take complete control over your code.
  • Lots of filters and flexibility with core Wonderflux functions to manipulate and control the framework output from your child theme.
  • Produces 100% valid W3C XHTML/CSS mark-up - with a choice of document types, XHTML 4 strict, transitional etc and even HTML5 to suit your theme.
  • Powerful Javascript plugins for JQuery at your fingertips - ready to go with innovative helper display functions for you to configure exactly how you need.
  • Support for CDN's for high performance website delivery - including core Javascript libraries.
  • Specifically designed to work perfectly with no clashes with ALL well-written WordPress plugins.

User guide

The user guide site has just been launched over at http://wonderflux.com/guide/. It contains quick start guides and documentation for developers.

Install

- The minimum requirements to run Wonderflux are WordPress v3.1 and PHP v5.2

- Install both Wonderflux and the example WFX Girder child theme into your /wp-content/themes directory

- Activate WFX Girder child theme as a demonstration on how to use Wonderflux.

License and usage

Wonderflux is distributed under the GPL v2 license just like WordPress (yes - that means FREE basically!). There are no plans to ever charge for Wonderflux, it will always remain GPL v2 license.

Just to clarify then - YES, you can use Wonderflux on as many commercial, non-commercial, personal WordPress sites as you wish, without any fee or subscription required within the bounds of the GPL v2 license.

GET INVOLVED - lets make something amazing for the whole community!

As with all open source software like WordPress and Wonderflux, the terms of the license mean you can pretty-much do what you want with the code, but please don't hack it or rip it off, you would receive your good karma back tenfold if you contribute improvements, suggestions and bug reports through the SVN system on Google code or via email. WordPress is a world-class publishing system, now lets make Wonderflux a world-class design system, for free, for everyone in the WordPress community to use!

Beta status

Please note that although the current version of Wonderflux is stable - it is still in beta and some things may change a-little, and a whole bunch of cool stuff will be added as the project progresses. As with all beta status code, please be aware that there may be bugs and improvements that will need to be worked on, so please bear with me!
