Any suggestions..? I won't give up!

- Hi there,
I tested on a PB S18, aka Kohjinsha SA, Vye S18... etc. Loads driver, but when active
freezes the unit. I'm using Kubuntu 9.04.

issue 3
(Won't connect, change to correct frequency, or change bitrat...) reported by thulinma
- What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Compile and install winbondport-030408
2. Run depmod
3. Plug in device, it's detected and turns on, can scan for networks.
4. Using Network Manager will cause a kernel panic (known bug, I saw), so I
try to connect manually as suggested.
5. Manual connect does nothing, see output below. It won't change to the
right frequency (2.437 GHz), even after running the iwpriv command to set
it to Europe. Also, it won't go above 1Mb/s bit rate, if it goes above 0 at
all. Also "IEEE IOCTL TEST" seems off... shouldn't that be something more
along the lines of "IEEE 802.11b/g"?
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
After running all commands I usually run to connect manually to my network,
iwconfig returns this:
wlan1 IEEE IOCTL TEST ESSID:"ThulNet" Nickname:"IS89C35"
Mode:Managed Frequency=2.472 GHz Bit Rate=0 kb/s Tx-Power:11
dBm
Sensitivity=18/3
RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr:2346 B
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
winbondport-030408, Linux Kernel 2.6.24.7 (Mandriva 2008.1)
Please provide any additional information below.
Any help getting this to work is appreciated. I bought the device thinking
this driver would work, but unfortunately it's not so easy :-) I don't give
up easily though! I'm willing to help test possible fixes, so contact me if
I'm needed.
