WGiBeat is a basic rhythm game built using Microsoft XNA. The basic gameplay was inspired by several existing rhythm games. The latest source is available through SVN. Note that WGiBeat is not intended to be a clone of Stepmania, as it does not feature DDR/ITG/PIU style gameplay. Developers are welcome to participate in WGiBeat's development. For instructions, please contact the developers at wgibeat{at}gmail{dot}com. WGiBeat requires Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 to run. It can be downloaded from the Microsoft website. Latest ReleaseVersion 1.0 - codename "Exceptional Review" is available for download from the Downloads page. Released on 23/01/2012. Installers are available from the download page, both with and without these songs, and the songs can also be downloaded separately. A special thanks to all the artists that contributed music to this release! A list of these artists, with links to more of their work, can be found here. 06/03/2012 - Nine new playable songs released! This week sees the release of nine (!) new playable songs, by six talented artists. Three of these are ideal for beginner players. For more music by each of these artists, check the links provided on each download page. 12/02/2012 - WGiBeat needs you! Since v0.9, WGiBeat has included the ability to use menu sound effects. However, the project doesn't have any such sound effects, and lacks the necessary talent to create them. If you would like to help make WGiBeat better, please contact the developers (wgibeat{at}gmail{dot}com) with any suitable submissions. 12/02/2012 - Five new songs released! Five new playable WGiBeat songs have been released, featuring one by DJ Clyme, another by YourSmile, and three by K-391! They are all available from the downloads page. 03/02/2012 - WGiBeat 0.9 hotfix 1 released. A hotfix for the serious bug mentioned earlier has been released, and can be downloaded here. Note that the hotfix is only applicable to players using a non-english region setting on their PC. If your copy of WGiBeat has no problems while starting up, then you do not need this hotfix. Note: Delete the settings.txt file in your WGiBeat installation before running the updated game again. 02/02/2012 - DJ-Hectic Song Pack released! A new pack of four playable WGiBeat songs has been released, featuring DJ-Hectic, the same artist as the previously released {Jumpstart} song. The songs are used with permission in WGiBeat and are freely redistributable. To hear more of DJ-Hectic's work, visit his Newgrounds page. The song pack is available here.
02/02/2012 - BUG: WGiBeat fails to run more than once? A significant bug has been found in the 0.9 release (and earlier versions), which causes WGiBeat to fail to run on computers using certain region settings. If your copy of WGiBeat fails to run (except for the very first time), and you use a non-english locale, you will likely have this issue. A hotfix for this issue will be published soon, and a special thanks to SoonDead for reporting this on the Stepmania forums. In the mean time, the problem can be bypassed by deleting settings.txt, then changing your PC's region settings to US or UK English. 23/01/2012 - 0.9 Released! WGiBeat 0.9 has been released! For a full list of changes, check this page. 11/01/2012 - 0.9 Coming soon! WGiBeat 0.9 will be released soon. Watch this space or use the in-game update notifier to keep up to date! 0.9 will bring several new features, most notably support for menu sound effects, a brand new game mechanic for Coop mode, as well as numerous bug fixes and tweaks.
