Table of Contents

1.0 Download

For the latest WattDepot-apps-monitor distribution package download the newest jar file (ending in .jar) from the Downloads page.

2.0 Starting the Application

  1. Start up your command line system (terminal or command prompt) and change into the directory where the .jar files was saved and execute the following command:
java -jar wattdepot-apps-monitor.jar [-resturi URI] [-port number] [-datauri URI]

(Note if RestURI, port number, or DataURI are not provided they will default to public values).

  1. A URL be given at the bottom of the command line in a line saying "Application at http://localhost:8003/wattdepotapps/monitor. Press return to exit" will be displayed. Copy and paste the address into an internet browser window address line and press enter. (You will need to keep the command line window open).

3.0 Using the Application

  • Upon Loading the page you will be presented with the following screen.
  • The fields available for use are as follows:
  1. Source: A selection of the sources or virtual sources (a collective of sources) to obtain energy data from.
  2. Update Interval: Displays how often a source updates (will not be visible if source has no information on this).
  3. Minimal Update Time: A set amount of time in which the monitor will check the selected source for updated data.
  4. Sensor Data Type: A choice of different types of data a power monitoring meter can give.
  5. Monitor Button: Begins monitoring the selected Source for new Sensor Data at a given Interval.
  6. Displayed Data from Sensor: Returns information from the sensor on what was being monitored and when.
  7. Link: Provides a link of the settings selected for use in sharing information.

4.0 Closing the Application

  1. Go back to the command line window (from step 2.0). Press the enter button.
  2. You may now close the command prompt and your browser.
