Theory Projects Page : Simulation Data Model (SimDB) & Simulation Data Access Protocol (SimDAP)

Introduction

This page contains general information on the following IVOA Theory Interest Group projects :

  • SNAP : Simple Numerical Data Access Protocol : this project is now closed and has been split in SimDB & SimDAP projects
  • SimDB : Simulation Database Model Specifications
  • SimDAP : Simulation Data Access Protocol

This project started in march 2008 and is still in progress.

This content was presented and discussed during IVOA InterOp meetings :

  • 19-23 May 2008: Stazione Marittima, Trieste, ITALY.
  • 26-31 October, 2008: Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

The main authors are :

  • Herve Wozniak (IVOA TIG Chair, EuroVO TIG Chair, Observatoire Astronomique de Strasbourg, France)
  • Gerard Lemson (EuroVO TIG Chair, GAVO, garching, Germany)
  • Claudio Gheller (CINECA, Itealy)
  • Rick Wagner (CADAC, USA)
  • Laurent Bourgès (EuroVO DCA Project, VOParis, France) till 01/2009

The project is composed by two parts :

  • SimDB : Leaded by Gerard Lemson (mpe.de) : UML Data Model & XSLT pipeline (html, xml schema, java code)
  • SimDAP : Leaded by Claudio Gheller (inaf.it) : Data Access protocol for web applications using SimDB databases & XML documents.
