IntroductionIf you're curious where vmcNetFlix keeps its data, or wonder how much disk space is being used by your "Watch Now" habits, or you've run into trouble and you want to be sure you've erased all trace of an older version of vmcNetFlix, the documentation below should help. Folders Created by vmcNetFlix- C:\Program Files\Luttman\vmcNetFlix
- stores all the program code for vmcNetFlix
- should only get altered during installs, upgrades or uninstallation
- C:\ProgramData\vmcNetFlix_Data
- stores most cached data used by vmcNetFlix
- includes cover art files and various data files used to optimize the UI behaviour
- will generally grow over time, but the disk consumption should only be in the 10's of MB
- includes these files:
- vmcNetFlix_AppStore.dat - where vmcNetFlix stores some details and settings about configured Extenders
- vmcNetFlix_MovieCache.dat - where vmcNetFlix caches the movie details as displayed in the Details screen
- %TEMP%\vmcNetFlix
- temporary location where movies/episodes are stored during Download
- once the Download is completed, the WMV file is moved to Public Videos\NetFlix
- should normally be empty except while movies/episodes are being downloaded
- "Public Videos\NetFlix"
- canonical path = %PUBLIC%\Public Videos\NetFlix
- typical location = C:\Users\Public\Public Videos\NetFlix
- stores all downloaded movies/episodes that are shown in the vmcNetFlix "Downloaded" menu
- disk consumption for this folder can vary wildly, but can easily grow to 10's of GB
- This is the folder that is most likely to cause your disk to fill up, but it is also easy to reduce the consumption (just by deleting one or more files, either from the vmcNetFlix UI or from Windows Explorer).
- Note: it is not necessary to delete this folder or its contents when performing a "complete uninstall", since there is no configuration or user-specific data found here. The WMV files that are stored here are generic - there is no way for them to affect the behaviour of vmcNetFlix one way or the other (other than to populate the Downloaded menu, of course).
Files Useful for vmcNetFlix TroubleshootingThere are a number of LogFiles that can be used to assist with troubleshooting - you can find those log files here.
