This program will simplifie the process that you may need to edit the ProductID key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\. The system summary page in Control Panel will read the value of this key and display it as the "Product ID" in "Windows Activation" session.

Note: this would NOT change the activation status.

In which circumstance you would need to do that? Well...Sometime you may wanna post a screenshot of your system summary in a forum to show off your extram high experience index, e.g. 5.6, but you do not want anyone else to see your Vista's Product ID; or you need to label all the IDs of the PCs for a lab to give the professors a little supprise when they need to call Microsoft for maintenance; or...you name it.

v 1.0 First release. Back up the old ProducID in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows N\\Current Version\ProductIDBackup. This version may have a little problem on a Server 2008.

You will need admin privilege and .net framework 3.5 to run this program. It will first backup your current Product ID in the Registry as the ProducID key in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows N\\Current Version\ProductIDBackup. Then you are free to assign any value to the Produc ID, e.g. "Get our kids out of Iraq" or "我爱奥运"....max length is 255. When you right click on "My Computer", then click "Properties", you will see the effect in the "Product ID" in "Windows Activation" session. Enjoy what you have made to it. You can reset the value from backup later on.
