This is a quick user guide for normal users, it covers the most common task of using Vertaal. It is based on version 1.1.3.

The Project List

Vertaal is able to manage multiple projects. You can be a member of as many projects and teams you want.

In the Project List, you can access directly to the available Releases.

Working with a Release

In the Release view, you are presented with the list of available languages for the selected project. This list it's ordered by the translated status.

Filtering components

In the file list header, there is a box with the available components to filter by. Select the desired ones and click filter. You cannot hide all the components.

There is also a 'Hide fully translated files' option. Activating it will hide all files with no fuzzy or untranslated messages.

What can you do?

The icon next to the file name, indicate that this file has a pending submission in the queue. If you own the lock, it will be automatically removed once the file is committed (sent to the repository). You still can edit the file. There is currently no way to cancel an uploaded file, you need to contact your team coordinator in this case.

The status icons

The system could set the file status to *unreviewed* or *translated* when necessary

To view the file history, click on the file name.

Uploading files

You need to own a lock on the file to upload it. Browse for the desired file (only .po files are supported) and click upload.

The file is checked for possible errors:

Fix them and upload the file again.

This file is added to a queue and the team coordinator is notified about this.

Bookmarks

This lets you have your preferred pages at hand, no matter where you are.

Every page headers (if available) contains to icons, to add the current page to your bookmarks and to remove it. The bookmarks are displayed in the Bookmark menu and on your Profile, where you can also removed them.

User Profile

In your profile page, apart of modifying your preferences you can access to a set of informative items about your movements on the site, and also manage your bookmarks.

I tried to cover here the most common actions for a normal user, if you think I missed some items that need to be explained, feel free to add them :-)
