LaTeX Setup Guide (Windows)

This is a tutorial written for Windows user. It will guide you to setup your computer to run LaTeX and compile a thesis sample provided in utmthesis.

In addition, it introduces a few extra tools that might come in handy when you are writing LaTeX documents.

Basic Setup

You will first setup MiKTeX, a Windows-based TeX/LaTeX implementation. Then install Texmaker, a LaTeX editor and use it to compile a thesis sample.

Extra Tools

This tutorial also introduces 4 handy tools:

• diagram maker (OpenOffice, Inkscape, and some tips to create diagram)
• table maker (Calc2LaTeX)
• maths equation maker (TeXaide)
• bibliography manager (JabRef)
