About Unit
WhatUnit is a mobile application for tracking lists of owned, loaned and borrowed assets (such as books, CDs, DVDs or board games) using Android mobile platform. Why tracking?Have you ever gave a film to a friend and never seen it again, scratching a head whom did you gave it? I did a lot. Have you ever, like me, wondered whom this pile of books and disks at the dark corner of the table belong to? Or friend who recommended you an album or a film, and you didn't remember, because you didn't have the paper to scratch on? All those, and some more are the problems Unit tries to solve. Why Unit? The is simple no software or tool that give the desired functionality. There is a few desktop-based media managers, but they are restricted to specific media types, typing in all the info is tedious process, and they never around when you need it. In contrast, Android platform gives all the tools to implement and perfect asset tracker software, like Unit hopes to be in the feature. The main focus of Unit is ease and simplicity of use, and it is because the only way it would work is if user enters all his incoming and leaving assets. And this, in it's turn is only possible if it won't take more than a few seconds. StatusUnit was first created for Android Challenge. Because lack of the time, it was submitted as barely working prototype with missing functionality, dummy screens and stub graphics. Now I'm working on turning it into real application.
