Welcome on the TYM Website.TYM means : Typo Manager. Basically, it’s software under development who will allow to manger your fonts on Linux like .OTF (OpenType), .TTF (TrueType) and .PFA/.PFB (Typo1). At the end of the year 2005, I was checking with a graphic artist friend where could be problems if a Windows Graphic Artist would like to switch on Linux and start create with Open Source Software such as Gimp, Inkscape, Scribus and more… Those programs are already working, but one is really missing on Linux (as far as I look for), it’s a simple graphic Font manager. Graphic artists usually handle a couple of project for different customers at the same time. Each project required some specific fonts often bough by the client. The Font manager target is to create a “font directory” for each project, put font he needs on this directory and active it. A few seconds after, those fonts will be available on his favourite Gimp, Inkscape or Scribus … programs font list. When the project is over, he could remove this font-directory or inactive it during a project break. This allows having only font loaded you need, not a crazy huge list of fonts. Basically, this software manages your fonts on Linux like .OTF (OpenType?), .TTF (TrueType?) and .PFA/.PFB (Typo1?) with possibly extra font files. It allows to add or “link” fonts, active or inactivating them and finally deleting them. It also handles the “group font” function and store fonts inside. Like before with individual font, you will be able to add groups, remove, active and inactive them. In a next step, i would like add a graphic interface, certainly something based on PyQT?/PyGTK?. And then, add extra functions... ;) Freshmeat URL : http://freshmeat.net/projects/tymproject/ News9 June 2009: TYM project migrated to Google CodeI've been looking for some serious Bash coders but i haven't found any since 10 months or so. I asked for help on the Sourceforge.net website and a couple of guys answered to help me to finish the first part of this project : THANKS. I've decided to setup a SVN repo to make the development more comfortable. 8 February 2006 : Out of time :-(I don't really have enough free time to finish TYM. I decided to share my BASH done around 50% (not really useful in this actually state) in the Download section. Sorry for people who wanted to see the final version of TYM. If you are in this case, or if you have some free time (1 weekend or 2) and you like BASH, contact me now to finish this project together. 11 January 2006 : Initial announcementI just did some Screenshots my first test with TYM and its UI done with "dialog" in bash.
