What is Twit2MSN?Twit2MSN is a script written in Javascript under the Messenger+ API which keeps your current Twitter status up to date with your 'Personal Status' within MSN. Project NewsView old news by visiting the NewsArchive 26th April 2010 - Twitter oAuth - Twitter has announced today that Basic Authentication will be switched off in a few weeks time. Unfortunately, I'd been counting on this for the next version of Twit2MSN, which means yet more delays :-( Sorry! 16th February 2010 - Apologies again - Once again I've had to move this project back, much to my disappointment. I've had a few people contact me on Twitter asking when they will be able to try out the new version, but unfortunately the answer is now looking like summer! For those of you who don't know, I'm studying a degree in Software Engineering, so am doing coding work during the day all week, and hence am a bit less enthusiastic about coming home and doing it in the evening as well! Hopefully once I finish my end of year exams (July time) I will be able to sit myself down and crack on with version 2.0! As always - if anyone wants to contribute to the project - get in touch! Maybe that will encourage me to put some more time into this! 15th December 2009 - Apologies - Sorry all, I've had a rather hectic term at university meaning that I've not had much chance to work on Twit2MSN. I'm aiming to get 2.0 RC1 finished some time in the new year, although this may slide to Easter if worst comes to the worst! 24th October 2009 - Another update - The latest development build of 2.0 has been checked into the repository! At the moment it is nowhere near feature-complete, it doesn't even download your tweets yet, but progress is being made, and already this new version is looking and feeling a lot slicker! I'm going to write a PHP script over the next few days that will perform nightly builds and place them on my webserver (nicely compiled as a .plsc) - so keep an eye out for that! 29th September 2009 - 2.0 Progress - I'm pleased to announce that version 2.0 is coming along nicely, early builds of which should start to appear in the repository over the next week or so. The new structure of the files is working out great, and the early GUI windows are looking better than anything ever seen before! Authentication with Twitter is now complete, and if you've been following @Twit2MSN you may have witnessed the very first tweet sent outwards from the script! Exciting times... 12th September 2009 - Translators Wanted! - If you fancy helping out by translating Twit2MSN into your own language, please visit our TranslatorsWanted wiki page 12th September 2009 - 1.4 available - The latest version has been accepted into the Messenger+ database, you can now download it there. Auto-updates for existing users should occur within the next couple of days. What version are we up to?The current version of Twit2MSN is 1.4, which can be downloaded by following the link on the right. The Release Notes are also available here. I've got an awesome idea!Great! Please feel free to contact us on Twitter (@Twit2MSN) or use the 'Issues' tab above to give us a brief idea of how your idea will work - please keep an eye on your filed report, as the developer(s) may contact you to get more ideas! I've found a horrible bugNot so great! However - we still want to hear from you. Please contact @Twit2MSN on Twitter or file a bug report. What are the aims of Twit2MSN?
Who works on Twit2MSN?Twit2MSN was the brainchild of Matt Dyson (@WARlrus), who developed the first version during 2008, eventually finding time again to proceed forwards with the project in 2009. How can I help?I am currently looking for a small group of testers for new versions of this script. You require absolutely no technical knowledge at all - all I'm after is some people to test release candidate builds to check I've not missed any bugs! You will also be expected to contribute to the 'Issues' section of this website, which is a very simple job! If you are interested, please email matt+twit2msn@thedysons.net and I will be in touch! I'm also on the lookout for anyone experienced with Messenger+ scripting (especially form design) to form a development team. Please email matt+twit2msn@thedysons.net stating your experience in this field. I'm willing to let anyone take part, whether you're a novice or a expert, if you're interested - get in touch! |
