Getting Started With Tweensy

Which type of Tweensy is for me ?

Tweensy offers 2 versions of it's tween engine :

TweensyZero and TweensyOriginal

and a beta expansion package TweensyFX

TweensyOriginal

Tweensy Original is a fully featured Object property tweener it is extremely efficient and is intended for everyday use.

TweensyZero (2.9KB compiled)

Tweensy Zero is a light weight version of TweensyOriginal this product is intended for users who are file size conscious.

TweensyFX (preview)

Is a beta expansion to TweensyOriginal allowing for motion effects to be applied to animations. This includes directional motion blurring, pixelation, xray, bulge/dent displacements, reflection, rgb channel splitting and bump mapping.

Why use Tweensy?

TweensyOriginal is the most efficient open source animation package available.

How to get Tweensy

The latest version of Tweensy can be retrieved from it's code.google address.

Project Home : http://code.google.com/p/tweensy/

SVN : http://tweensy.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/

Once Tweensy is downloaded the releases folder will contain the various Tweensy products these are :

  • zero
  • original
  • fx

Tweensy can be used in either as either a pre-compiled SWC or Actionscript source code which is contained in each of these product folders.

Using the Tweensy SWC for CS4:

If you have Flash CS4 installed a SWC can be referenced from your FLA.

Go to File > Publish settings > Flash > Settings

Then choose the tab 'Library path' and click the plus icon and select the Tweensy.swc file.

Using the Tweensy Actionscript source code for CS3/CS4:

Go to File > Publish settings > Flash > Settings

If you're using CS4 select the 'Source Path' tab or ignore this step if using CS3

Click the plus icon and select the folder containing the source code.
