Getting around the interface
Dominos
Updated Oct 23, 2009 by j85a...@gmail.com

You can do a lot of things with Dominos. The intent of this guide is to give one the tools needed to figure out how to do stuff, rather than explain each and every feature.

The Main Options Menu

The options menu is your main hub for configuration in Dominos. With it you can:

  • Configure non bar specific settings, like locking action button positions, selfcast settings, hiding and showing macro text
  • Enter and exit configuration mode
  • Enter and exit binding mode
  • Manage profiles

The options menu is located in the addons portion of the Blizzard interface options menu. Alternatively, you can access it via the slash command /dominos.

Profiles

A profile contains Dominos specific settings. This does not include key bindings, or what actions are on each bar (To save action button positions, try out the addon Action Bar Saver 2. Action bar paging settings are saved on a per profile basis, but are also class specific. By default, Dominos assigns each class a separate profile. To manage profiles, you need to access the profiles management panel, which is a sub panel of the main options panel for Dominos. Simply click the + near the Dominos tab in interface options, then click the profiles button.

Four profile operations are implemented: set, save, copy, and delete. Set will change the current active character to the selected profile. This allows the user to have multiple characters set to using the same settings. Save will create a copy of the user's current profile as a given name, then set the current user to that profile. Copy will copy all settings from the selected profile to the current profile. Delete will well, delete a profile.

A final option is only implemented as a slash command, /dominos reset. This command will return your current profile to default settings.

Configuration mode

Configuration mode is where it is possible to move bars around and adjust a bar's settings.

To adjust a bar's settings, enter configuration mode, then right click the desired bar to bring up the bar's right click menu. Every Dominos bar has a right click menu for adjusting settings. I highly encourage all users to look through the right click menus for each bar to discover all configuration options.

You can access configuration mode via doing any of the following

  • The /dominos lock or /dominos config slash commands
  • Clicking the Enter Config Mode... button in the main options menu

To exit configuration mode, just use the same command you used to enter it.

Binding Mode

Bindings mode is where it is possible to set hotkeys for all action bars, the pet bar, and the class bar.

To bind a key, hover over the button and press desired key combination, such as Alt + 1, W, or Mouse Wheel down. It is possible to bind keys to any mouse button recognized by the game, other than the left and right buttons. All bindings, except for the action bar, are saved in the same way as the standard binding system does, and respects the same per character option.

You can access bindings mode by doing any of the following:

  • Typing the /keybound or /kb slash command
  • Clicking the Bind Keys... button in the main options menu

To exit binding mode, use whichever command you used to enter it.

Slash Commands

Dominos features a fairly rich set of slash commands. All Dominos commands, with the exception of the binding mode toggle, can start with either /dominos or /dom. The parameter 'frameList' can be either a single bar id, ex 'menu'; a space separated list of bar ids, ex 'bags pet 1'; a range of bars, ex '1-10'; 'all'; or any combination, ex '1-10 menu bags pet all'

Here's the complete list of commands

Command Action
/dom Shows the options menu, if enabled
/dom lock Toggles configuration mode
/dom scale frameList scale Sets frameList's scale to scale. 1 is normal scale
/dom setalpha frameList opacity Sets the opacity of barlist. 0 is completely transparent, 1 is completely opaque
/dom fade frameList opacity Sets the faded opacity of frameList. A bar's faded opacity is what opacity a bar has when not moused over
/dom setcols frameList columns Sets the number of columns for frameList
/dom pad frameList padW padH Sets the padding levels for frameList
/dom space frameList spacing Sets the spacing between buttons for frameList
/dom show frameList Shows frameList
/dom hide frameList Hides frameList
/dom toggle frameList Toggles frameList
/dom numbars 1-120 Sets how many action bars to use. This option will reset your action bar positions
/dom numbuttons 1-120 Sets the maximum amount of buttons per actionbar. This option will reset your action bar positions
/dom set profile Switches to frameList
/dom save profile Saves current settings as, and switches to frameList
/dom copy profile Copies settings from frameList to current profile
/dom delete profile Deletes frameList
/dom reset Returns the current profile to default settings
/dom list Lists all available profiles
/dom version Prints the current Dominos version
/dom help or ? Shows a list of slash commands
/keybound or /kb Toggles binding mode

Comment by DarkEl...@gmail.com, Nov 2, 2008

Hi, I dont know where the priviously anouced issues should be ? But what i really miss a lot is the (%) or some bars on the xp bar. Or prefarable both...

I'm not sure if it has been brought up before.

With the last version, 1.8, i have this problem: i set the menu and bags bars as vertical bars on the right of the screen. But when i open a bag, it covers the bar, so i can't open another bag. Similarly, if you select the option to track the quests, the text appear over those bars, and is difficult to be read. In short, the bag windows are positioned like they are when you don't select the second right bar in Blizzard interface.

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Nov 3, 2008

sounds like you should get an addon to move those things :P

Comment by bart.bar...@gmail.com, Nov 3, 2008

Any idea how i can lock the buttons ? I keep removing them in mid-raid ^^

Comment by vonru...@gmail.com, Nov 3, 2008

Ok, I'm trying this but it doesn't seem to work:

/dom hide 'all' /dom show 'all' /dom hide '10'

I can however do: /dom hide '10-10' /dom hide '1-10'

This seems to be a work around. Any ideas if this is a bug or maybe something on my end?

Any way to handle "paging" through macros?

I have macros that handle different modifiers/stance but when i try to use that skill with the modifier it just used the skill that is there without the modifier.

ex. one for Heroic Strike normally, and with shift it would Cleave /cast [modifier:shift] Cleave /cast Heroic Strike

This is on action bar 3 and I've tried binding in Dominoes to "E" and "E,shift E". In both cases, it switches the icon on the bar properly but still only ever casts Heroic Strike.

I really don't want to spend the time and rely so much on paging, in the even that the mod breaks when a patch comes out or other situations where I would then be forced to rethink my entire setup again!

Any ideas on how to let the macro do it's thing?

Thanks

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Nov 7, 2008

@vonrune: try removing the quotes, ex /dom hide all

@luc.on.ca: I think there's a /changeactionbar page type command.

Comment by nakedg...@gmail.com, Nov 9, 2008

In bongos there was an options to resize all 10 action bars at once to I could say set all ten bars to scale 60. I can't find that option here please tell me there is a way to do this still? If not could you add that back in? I have alot of chars and that made it so much easier to setup. Thanks.

Comment by luc.on...@gmail.com, Nov 9, 2008

@j85ason: That's what I do not want to do, I do not want to rely on paging, action bar swaps, or remapping. I simply want my macros to do what they are supposed to do, but somehow Dominos is affecting my macro functionality.

Comment by anthony....@gmail.com, Nov 20, 2008

@nakedgoat: /dom scale 1-10 .6 will get you what you want.

Comment by jabad3...@gmail.com, Nov 21, 2008

Somehow or another I hid my experience bar in Dominos and now I've no clue how to get it back. Any ideas would be awesome to have. Thanks, jabad3hut

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Nov 23, 2008

@luc.on.ca: make sure those modifiers are not bound to anything in the blizzard bindings menu.

Comment by rigged...@hotmail.co.uk, Nov 27, 2008

two of my bars have replicated each ohter, in the sense that whenever i move a spell from one it disappears from the other. Its like having two identical bars but there is no way of changing one without changing the other. How do i sort this out please?

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Dec 20, 2008

One of your other addons is enabling the blizzard casting bar.

Having a few problems with this AMAZING mods:

1) Action Bars #1 & #2 do not allow me to add any buttons to them. When in config mode (and making sure they are not hidden, there are no "docking" squares for buttons even though Show Empty Buttons is ON. In addition (and I don't know if this is related), I have an action bar from my "original" interface that is in the bottom left of the screen that is NOT highlighted or movable with Domino. I shut off all action bars in the Blizzard standard interface, but that one bar remains.

2) The Bags bar has not replaced my original bags. The only thing that is on the Domino Bag Bar is my Keyring. If I select Show One Bag Only, all of my original bags disappear but my backpack.

3) Not sure if Domino can handle this, but my Options Bar (i.e. character, Help, Spellbook etc.) is not movable or configurable with Domino.

Thanks for any help on this,

Wazoo

Bah.... looks like Domino is in conflict with MoveAnything?. Anyway around this? Unfortunately, I need MoveAnything? because I play at 3840x1024 over three monitors and I need to move HUD pieces around to get them on my center monitor.... :(

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Dec 28, 2008

unless there's a setting in move anything, I have no idea :P

Comment by pwasser...@gmail.com, Dec 29, 2008

Nope. No options worked in MoveAnything?. However... I found a program called FluidFrames? which seems to be working like MoveAnything? and it has no conflict with Domino. Thanks for this great addon!

Comment by ArpitUp...@gmail.com, Feb 9, 2009

Hi appreciate the mod but i am having issues with draggin/dropping buttons. i enabled all bars to view them, when i try to move the buttons from bar 7 to bar 3 for example, the button is removed from bar 7 and on dropping it in bar 3, it vanishes, so now i cant figure out how to customize my buttons since they keep disappearing when i move them.

Anyone else with this or a similar issue?

Greetings, I usually play with the tooltip off, sometimes though I need to switch them on, is there a command that lets me toggle it or can I only do that via the interface?

Comment by francisc...@gmail.com, Mar 22, 2009

Hey... I have a problem. Sometimes, by main action bar just ''transforms'' into one fo my others, like my useless tracking bar. So...I don't really know what to do and I just love this add-on. Any help will be apreciated. ^^

Comment by draNg...@gmail.com, Apr 19, 2009

hi, not sure if you are still responding here, but thought I'd post a comment anyhow -

Loved Bongos and like this simpler addon even more. But (there's always a but, isn't there) I have the same problem that csadun posted back on 2 Nov - the bags open up over the right hand vertical action bars. But that's not the only problem - the tooltips overwrite them too - it looks like you are somehow overriding the setting in the Interface menu for right-hand vertical bars, which is how the native UI is going to know whether to render further in.

I saw your reply to csadun but I am thinking that's not really a solution. Dominos 1.6.3 doesn't have this problem, so something changed in the version after that.

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Apr 19, 2009

Well basically, I fixed the bug :P Enabling that checkbox had some other issues, like causing phantom bars to appear, and limiting the # of pages available for paging. To fix those issues, the bag setting had to be altered, too.

Comment by steele.h...@gmail.com, May 24, 2009

How do i change the colour of the xp bar?

Comment by roger...@gmail.com, May 24, 2009

Not sure if you monitor all these questions, but I'll ask ahead. On my priest I have a main bar for my shadow spells while in shadow form. When i swap out of shadowform that bar changes into my holy bar with all my main holy bars. The only problem is that I want to keep the same keybindings for both bars. So if button 1 is Q on the shadow bar, I want it to be Q also on the holy bar. However if I try keybind the holy bar to be the same as my shadow bar it unkeybinds my shadowbar and vice versa. Any way to make two bars share the same keybindings? Or is there a way for one bar to swap between two button configurations based on what stance you are in. Thanks a ton, -Shadowcatch

Comment by chip.hol...@gmail.com, Jun 3, 2009

I have the same problem as rigged, where one bar has replicated another one. A /dominos reset has not helped. I'm on Dominos 1.9.4

Comment by rad...@gmail.com, Jul 11, 2009

It looks like you can't have multiple different experience bars shown. If you configure additional XP bars (e.g. reputation bars) then they just overwrite the XP bar.

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Aug 6, 2009

You need to learn all of the totem call spells (new to this patch), and make sure the addon, Dominos_Totems?, is enabled.

Comment by ander...@gmail.com, Aug 6, 2009

Hi, for some reason when I have this addon enabled the roll table does not show up and it ends up passing for me automatically. When I configure my bars I can see where the roll table is supposed to show up but when I am in a dungeon it doesn't. Please tell me how to fix this

Comment by mmgeome...@gmail.com, Dec 11, 2009

Hi, how is rested bonus handled in the experience bar? Is it the same as the Bliz interface with blue (I guess to the right with Dominos) indicating rest? Thanks

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Dec 11, 2009

blue == rest bonus, purple == experience gained

Comment by MarkBere...@gmail.com, Dec 12, 2009

Hi, this seems like a great mod, but I'm having issues setting up my druid for all 3 stances. I like having 3 bars for caster stance (to accommodate potions, trinkets, etc) and 2 for bear/cat. But when I try to set the bars for the different stances I end up with a confusing mess. Do you know if there's a guide anywhere specifically for druids? Thanks!

Comment by bizarrec...@gmail.com, Jan 9, 2010

Hi. I've made the switch to Dominos because of a problem I was having with spec-swapping with Bartender. However, I can't find where, if possible, there's an option to make a bar click-through, that is, to show up and have icons put in without it actually reacting to mouse events.

Thank you.

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Jan 10, 2010

There's no click through option in Dominos.

Comment by linus.c...@gmail.com, Dec 12, 2010

in config mode, when i right click on the bars, i don't get any options, nothing happens. I am able to move the bars and set whether they are hidden or not, but nothing else.

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Dec 12, 2010

That means that Dominos_Config? is either disabled or not installed.

Comment by ordinary...@gmail.com, Jan 13, 2011

Cast, Totems, Roll and XP do not work correctly for some reason on my shaman... I can see bars 1-10, bags, vehicle and pet but nothing else. It works fine on my warrior and other alts, but those do not show up at all on my shaman.

Hopefully there's nothing somewhere on this site dealing with that that I missed, but... yeah. Tried resetting it and a couple other things and nothing fixed it.

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Jan 14, 2011

Do you get any errors?

Comment by ordinary...@gmail.com, Jan 14, 2011

Nope. Nothing pops up or anything, everything should theoretically be fine - and is fine on most of my characters. The shaman is literally the only character those bars do not show up on - the main Dominos and Dominos Config seem to be the only ones that work.

Comment by project member j85a...@gmail.com, Jan 17, 2011

Well your two options are: Dominos_Cast?, Totems, Roll, and XP were all disabled/removed. Check in the addons menu to confirm this. You're actually getting error messages, but lua errors are disabled (this can be configured in interface options on the Blizzard side)

Comment by starke...@hotmail.com, Dec 2, 2011

i can not scale them smaller , they talk a fair bit of room on my screen i tryed /dom scale frameList scale and nothing happens

Comment by new...@gmail.com, Feb 23, 2012

For others like rigged, chip (and me,lol) If you have a problem with the bars changing to another bar: it's a feature called 'paging' and addressed at the beginning of the 'advanced' section.
