TransProCalc is a translation project management tool by tony baldwin

It assists with initial project estimates, management of multidocument, multilanguage, multiprovider project data, and crunches up the numbers at the end of a project in a nice tidy report for the bookkeeper.

Additionally, we now have a

I began creating it in 2007 when I was first starting to outsource a lot of work, and found that the time I was spending on crunching up numbers and managing projects was hardly worth the profits I was making from those projects. Automating many of those tasks with TransProCalc helped me cut project management time to about 20% of it's former magnitude, once more rendering outsourcing profitable, and freeing up my time to work on my translation work. More time translating, less time managing outsourced work = happy freelancer/outsourcer combo.

The currrent release, tpcalc0.8, IS stable, and useful (I've been using it here at Baldwin Linguas for nearly 2 years now). All the same, there is vast room for improvement. (devs, see TODO list).

There is not, at the moment, a user support list, but users with issues can contact me directly for support. We had a nice manual, but when our site moved, we managed to lose it somewhere. New documentation will be forthcoming, and appear on the transprocalc wiki.

Development on TransProCalc will, from 2010.03.02 forward, be managed here, rather than...elsewhere (sf, although we will maintain current versions available for download there).

To participate in this project, contact tony or request membership in the baldwinsoftware google group on which we manage forums and mail lists (dev, not support).

(manual is also available as pdf in the downloads section).
