Introduction

TownGuide is a program that produces printable output from OpenStreetMap data as shown in the examples below (note that you might have to right click and do 'save as' to get the PDF files to open correctly).

The following examples are a simple "Pub Guide" for Hartlepool showing, errr...pubs, and a "Tourist Guide" for Central London that shows hotels and tourist attractions.

It is intended to produce a customisable guide to an area. The output can include

  • a rendered map
  • a street index (optional)
  • a list of features within the mapped area, such as:
    • pubs
    • shops
    • tourist attractions
    • hotels

The program can be run either from the command line, or via a web interface.

See HowItWorks for information on how townguide and its web front-end work.

InstallationInstructions provides instructions on how to install townguide on your own computer, either as a stand-alone application or with the web front end.
