townguide

A program and web service to produce printed 'town guides' from OpenStreetMap data

Introduction

TownGuide is a program that produces printable output from OpenStreetMap data as shown in the examples below (note that you might have to right click and do 'save as' to get the PDF files to open correctly).

The following examples are a simple "Pub Guide" for Hartlepool showing, errr...pubs, and a "Tourist Guide" for Central London that shows hotels and tourist attractions.

The web service allows users to request the generation of a customised town guide on demand. There is a rudimentary web service (running on a very slow computer) running at http://www.townguide.webhop.net.

Update: Now uses FreeSerif font so non-western characters should work now, rather than giving those annoying black squares!.

The demonstration site is still using the simple php interface in the trunk of the repository. It will change soon to the much nicer Django based one that Waldemar produced for his Google Summer of Code project. The django version is currently being developed, but is available at http://dtownguide.webhop.net if anyone would like to have a look and provide comments!
