I am getting constant "408 Request Timeout" Errors when I try to connect using your directions here.

Please try to uncheck ‘Use DNS SRV’ box.

I will try, thanks. I am noticing that the software works fine on an Intel Machine, but is giving me problems on my G4 laptop. I am wondering if the G4 processor just can't handle everything.

I get "Could not register with <my server's IP address>". The error was "404 not found". I tried with DNS SRV and without, and get the same problems.

@d.a.romney Telephone should work the same way on both platforms. If it doesn’t work for you on G4, there can be some configuration or network setup differences.

@newton10471 provider can return 404 when username or password is not correct.

For some reason this worked fine using Airport + TG585 v7 Software Release: 8.2.23.0 but since I cut the airport and enabled wireless on the thomson router I always see this message popup:

It very unlikely that two-way conversations will be possible with the symmetric NAT. Contact you SIP provider to find out other NAT traversal options. If you are connected to the internet through the personal router, try to replace it with the one that supports “full cone”, “restricted cone” or “port restricted cone” NAT types.

I've added routing 5060 to my macbook but it hasn't made any difference :(

Here's how I fixed it: telnet 192.168.1.254 Connected to bebox.config.

connection unbind application=SIP port=5060 nat tmpladd intf=Internet outside_addr=0.0.0.1 type=NAT inside_addr=<LAN ip address you want to forward to> protocol=UDP

oh thank god. this worked. Sipgate's own client I found to be none other than a pain in the tuckus… which was actually just due to its ringing sound which I didn't see an option to change. well, that & finding that it wasn't logged in a couple times.
