HTML Application Wrapper for Google Tasks that allows a PC user to open a standalone application window with Google Tasks running inside. This makes Google Task appear to be its own application running on your PC.

Use Google Chrome Instead

I'd recommend using Google Chrome instead of this project. It is easier, faster, has fewer issues, and is cross platform. Get Google Chrome, then you can easily create this same experience by just navigating to https://mail.google.com/tasks/ig then selecting in Chrome "Page Icon > Create application shortcuts..." to make a standalone Chrome window for Tasks. You can use this AutoHotkey script to apply a global hotkey (get AutoHotkey). See this Lifehack Blog Post for further details.

Old Method (this code)

uses Internet Explorer so is limited to Windows OS right now

Stuff to know:

  • Latest download is GoogleTasks.zip
  • Just open the .zip and run the .hta file. You can copy it to your desktop or another folder for easy access.
  • There is a .ahk AutoHotkey script to assign a windows hotkey to popup the app, just download and install AutoHotkey, edit the script to point to where you put GoogleTasks.hta, add a shortcut to the .ahk script in your Start Menu > Startup folder, then run the .ahk script.

Help Make it Better

Anyone is welcome to make improvements to the project! Any help to knock out some of the feature ideas on our feedback system would be appreciated. Feel free to add your own ideas and make those happen too. Please email me noahcoad+taskalone@gmail.com for commit access with your Google Code username and a little bit about yourself and what you'd like to contribute.
