TAP is moving to http://www.tapintomuseums.orgTAP aims to provide tools to easily create and deliver mobile tour applications in a museum setting. Content creation is performed in the content management system, Drupal. TAP tours are exportable into an intermediate format, TourML, which can then be used as pluggable bundles for mobile applications. TAP started as a solution for the Indianapolis Museum of Art. We are open sourcing the tools we have developed in hopes of collecting a rich set of free tools for all museums. PLEASE JOIN AND SUBMIT QUESTIONS TO THE DISCUSSION GROUP. Learn More
Content Management System (more)TAP tours are easily created in a content management system. Users can collaboratively author tours stops and upload audio, video and images. Once the tours content is complete, it can be exported in several ways. The tour information itself is held in an XML file format called, TourML. TourML makes no assumptions about how the tour will be presented, hence leaves creative liberties to each tour application.
iPod Touch Application (more)Currently, the prime example of a front-end implementation of a TAP tour is the iPod Touch application developed by the IMA for its feature exhibitions. The application is preloaded onto devices which are rented by patrons. Tour stops are visited by entered a 3-digit code displayed in the gallery.
