What is TaggyTODO?

TaggyTODO is a simple tool to manage your todo list. It's written in Python, with a core library, a command line toolset, and a GTK+ and NCurses GUI application.

TaggyTODO focuses on managing long-term work items. It separates the reminding policies from work item definitions. Instead, users have to define their own `Query Expressions', which are used to find out the tasks that should be reminded. The query exprssions also define the frequency of reminding.

Applicability

Please Note: TaggyTODO is not a tool for everyone. It is designed for users who found it difficult to track tons of 4-week or 2-month tasks every day, just like me.

Comparing with other popular tools like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Sunbird, TaggyTODO does not provide a beautiful user interface, and it may be awkard if you usually work with quick tasks that counted in hours. Also, it won't be very efficient if you have to add/delete tasks frequently. If your working style is just like what I described, staying with Outlook or Sunbird will be a better choice.

TaggyTODO may be too heavyweighted when comparing with some 'smaller' TODO managers like Gnome Hamster Applet http://projecthamster.wordpress.com/. Of course, the word `small' is still a personal concept, which depends on whether you care about the Gnome dependencies.

-- By the way, Gnome Hamster is a great tool. TaggyTODO learns a lot from it, although I didn't use it for long.

This is project is still in its early development stage so it's not really useful right now. I'll update and announce the first release when the core library is done.
