I was contacted by one of ModMii's Italian translators, wasabisun. His English isn't that great so he asked if I could report a syscheck bug he found on his behalf. Using syscheck 2.1.0 b14 (which does not work for me personally due to the unable to initialize fat device issue) on the same Wii before\after softmodding it the syscheck report first claimed the Wii does not support backup dvd's but after some more softmodding the syscheck log is claiming it does in fact support backup dvds. When syscheck was first run it was using an older version of the HBC using IOS36 and it reported that the dvd drive does NOT support dvd backups. After updating the same Wii's softmods, the HBC was using IOS58 and the log reported that the dvd drive does support dvd backups. (I'm actually not sure if this wii truly support backup discs or not, if you need that info I'm sure I can get it from wasabisun) I will direct wasabisun to this page so if you have more questions hopefully he will answer here directly. If he is unresponsive you can PM him here: http://gbatemp.net/user/210952-wasabisun/. And of course you can always reach him through me if you want me to continue to be the middle man on this issue. Here is the original PM I was sent in case it helps. Thanks. XFlak ------ hi xflak i d like to know if you honw R2( coder of syscheck)to contact him, because if you can, i want to say one thing but my english is very bad. we have noticed one bug ( we suppose it is) we have used syscheck 2.1.0 b14 so before to update the softmod we have this syscheck log it is in italian so i explain herE we have old HBC that run with IOS 36,and the log report that the dvd drive NOT support dvd backup sysCheck v2.1.0b14 by Double_A and R2-D2199 ...appoggiato sull'IOS36 (rev 3351). Regione: PAL Menu di Sistema 4.0E (v418) Il drive non supporta i DVD Canale Homebrew 1.0.1 appoggiato sull'IOS61 Hollywood v0x11 ID della console: 57699590 Boot2 v3 Trovati 89 titoli. Trovati 31 IOS in questa console. 5 di questi sono stub. AFTER the update we have made un other syscheck. Here we have HBC that run with ios58 and the log report that the dvd drive support dvd backup. it is: sysCheck v2.1.0b14 by Double_A and R2-D2199 ...appoggiato sull'IOS58 (rev 6175). Regione: PAL Menu di Sistema 4.0E (v418) Il drive supporta i DVD Canale Homebrew 1.0.8 appoggiato sull'IOS58 Hollywood v0x11 ID della console: 57699590 Boot2 v3 Trovati 94 titoli. Trovati 34 IOS in questa console. 5 di questi sono stub. So the question is : what can be that first log report noT SUPPORT DVD and the second reports that it supports dvd. thx

But ,which is the relation from AHBPROT and the log that report NOT support dvd?

sry for double post, i want to say that this wii can read dvd of backup

sounds like the check to see whether or not the dvd drive supports backup discs fails without ahbprot... assuming that is the case, maybe this check should be skipped if the app is loaded without ahbprot

AHBPROT allows DVD access.

I understand that, but when it's run without ahbprot and unable to determine if the wii supports backup discs it should not report that it can or that it cannot. It should either report nothing or say unable to determine or something like that.

Oh, I agree. I was just explaining WHY it fails without AHBPROT.
