cims

Cloud management system that works on top of existing infrastructures and provides a Web application and a Web service for end users.

The system was developed in the framework of the project at the University of Stuttgart supported by Institute of Architecture of Application Systems (IAAS) and Institute of Parallel and Distributed Systems (IPVS), Universität Stuttgart. Studienprojekt A "cims"

The system allows to connect different cloud infrastructures and make them easily available for end users via AJAX-enabled Web application. Users with administrator rights can easily set limits for users using "cims points". Existing user database can be connected via plug-in interface. Further integration is possible via SOAP Web service that provides same functionality as the Web application. Plug-ins for Amazon EC2 and Eucalyptus were developed. Plug-in for IBM TivSAM is in progress.

Cloud Computing

Für den Begriff Cloud Computing gibt es derzeit viele unterschiedliche Erklärungsmodelle. Dabei handelt es sich hauptsächlich um einen Entwicklungseinsatz bei dem komplexe Rechnersysteme in Form eines abstrakten Dienstes bereitstellt werden. Deren Speicher, Rechenzeit sowie andere komplexere Dienste werden zur gemeinsamen Nutzung via Internet über festgelegte Schnittstellen abgefordert bzw. zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Rechner werden nicht mehr durch den Anwender selbst betrieben, sondern von dem Anbieter selber.
