The Spring framework has so many capabilities, options and configuration options that I think it would be useful to have a project that evaluates and demonstrates all these possibilities.

Some new features, like incorporating different scripting languages (JRuby, Groovy, Jython) are also worth looking into.

This would serve as a reference application that utilizes the full stack; from persistence to the web tier.
