Installation
The actual installation instructions are shipped with the source. As most distributions only contain binaries, we'll link to the actual sources from this wiki page. Depending on the version of slimrat you are using, click one of the following links:

Hi,
I would like to try install slimrat on freenas (www.freenas.org) which is lite freebsd-based NAS distribution. Can you advise me which modules shall be installed on freebsd to use slimrat in command line mode only (without GTK/X11)? Thanks
Igor
look at Installation > FreeBSD for CLI version you dont need packages starting with "x11-toolkits/..."
using it daily, love the script --thanks!
already using it on ubuntu for a while. great job.
i am now trying to install on a windows box.
why does the rapidshare plugin failed? i've checked the link and it's ok, could someone help me with this? i appreciate if u could mail me at pemaincadangan@ymail.com
You are missing one dependency: libspiffy-perl is needed for the GUI version.
tried getting something from mediafire and I got the usual index.html :s anything broken that needs fixing perhaps?
How to install slimrat in source code like mine slimrat-0.9.4.tar.bz2 I'v been unpack with tar -jxvf slimrat-0.9.4.tar.bz2 and i can't configure or install
install all dependencies and run ./slimrat or ./slimrat-gui (just read this page)
Great app! Especial a command-line. Thank You a lot.
I installed slimrat. I can open the program, put my rapid link and then click the download button (the one that looks like play) However, then it doesnt start downloading. The program shuts down (at least it disappears from the screen) and nothing happens. I checked the download folder to see if it downoaded but no.
What am I doing wrong? I am using XUBUNTU 8.04
i install on windows and get error cpan>"install Getopt::Long, LWP::UserAgent?, Term::ANSIColor, WWW::Mechanize" Catching error: "Can't locate object method \"Mechanize\" via package \"install Getopt::Long, LWP::UserAgent?, Term::ANSIColor, WWW\" (perhaps you forgot to load
ry/perl/lib/CPAN.pm line 350, <IN> line 7.\cJ" at C:/strawberry/perl/lib/CPAN.pm How does i resolve this problem ???muhammadmukhlisin: I dont know, try it without the quotes, or run just cpan and type that command (install ...)
ozcelikov: Some missing dependency? Check config file too.
coll stuff :)
what is the command for starting the application or where should icon be placed after installation, cause I really have no idea how to start it... (what can I say, Rookie I am)
rimenx: if you made symlinks as described on this page, You can run it with 'slimrat' or 'slimrat-gui' command. If not and you are in directory where you unpacked it, run './slimrat'
Great work mate. I'm always looking for little gems like this one to run on my headless servers.
In CLI version, how do I see downloads progress without ls'ing the files?
Please, include in the installation instructions that asciiwiew is needed.
In Debian/Ubuntu: $ sudo apt-get install aview
Thanks for this fantastic app!
@keyosjc: this is a standard feature in the upcoming release.
bymenda: thanks, I'll add it.
The application is not only exactly what I was looking but it looks well-thought out as well.
Thanks
Excellent idea, very useful application, but the GUI needs explaining (or overhauling) in my opinion. I usually queue several downloads from rapidshare, several from Uploading etc. I want slimrat to download the rapidshare files sequentially, IN PARALLEL with downloading Uploading files sequentially. I have no idea how to achieve this, and the GUI state leaves me puzzled:
1) there is a "start downloading" button which does something unclear (starts download immediately? enqueues files from the same provider). It also has an unclear "state" in the GUI -- its appearance changes between pressed and depressed with no clear logic
2) There are two per-file states -- a percentage bar and a status icon. They make clear whether a file is currently being downloaded at x%. They do not make clear whether a file is enqueued, or the download is at 0% (it seems 0% means enqueued, while a blank percentage bar means NOT ENQUEUED)
I really just want to start the downloads and leave slimrat alone, without worrying all the time that the downloading may have stopped (because some files are listed, but not "enqueued").
Can you get this in apt?
Dear Sir:
Would you happen to know how to install Slimrat in a Buffalo Linkstation Live NAS? I've modded the firmware such that I'm able to telnet to it via Putty from a Win 7 machine and was able to install and run Transmission.
I do not know what the exact operating system is, but when I log in to the NAS and enter "help," I find the following header preceding the list of commands:
GNU bash, version 3.2.0(2)-release (arm-none-linux-gnueabi)
