Hi,

Could you have a look on this bug please?

http://bugs.debian.org/630726

To tell you the background, Debian squeeze (6.0.1) has pidgin 2.7.3.1 (same
release for libpurple0 and pidgin-data).

Don't hesitate for more info if you need.

Regards,

Texou

From the looks of it, that is due to Skype 2.1 and newer being incompatible
with old versions of the plugin. Any version > 201012* should be new enough to
work with Skype 2.1 and 2.2. I believe that there are old versions of the
plugin in Debian and that old version should say it needs less than version 2.1
