Introduction

Simplish provides an author archive template. It presents a lists of posts written by a given author, in much the same way an archive for a category shows just the posts within that category. Author avatar and bio are optionally presented. These author archives are particularly useful on multi-author sites.

In the information below, name represents the display name for a given Wordpress user (an author). Verbatim items from the Wordpress admin panel are in bold.

Setting up author metadata

To use the author archives most effectively, ensure your Wordpress user's information in the admin panel under Users -> Authors & Users contains:

• A display name, which will be shown under each post title in the "Posted by name" byline, and at the head of the author information section on the archive page.
• An email address with which your preferrer Gravatar is associated. This avatar is shown in the author information section on the archive page.
• A web site URL, to which the author's name in the author information section on the archive page will link.
• A short bio, which is displayed in the author information section on the archive page.

Viewing an author archive

Provided "pretty URLs," each author's archive will be located beneath the Wordpress blog's root at http://example.com/author/_name_/. The author's name in the byline beneath the title of each post is a clickable link to the archive of posts written by that author.

Microformats

The author information section on the archive page is a microformatted hCard containing the author's name, URL, and photo/avatar.
