It would be nice to have a server available on the Oxford network for demo
and dev. purposes. OUCS has a VM service available for that [1].

Current requirements:

a) Run latest release of Simal on the demo server to replace current one at
http://simal.16degrees.com.au/

b) Run development server that updates itself every 6 hours from SVN and
sends mail out etc. when failing to update.

The new one need nit replace the 16degrees one, that's up to Gavin. The goal is to have one on a
dedicated machine where we can run the latest version withiut worrying about bringing down the server
with programming errors (as happened once).

Sounds fine to me, is there a stable version ready with persistent non-changing data
for demonstration purposes, or just have it load the test data?

I'll then just keep my server upto date with stable released versions.

The next release should be sufficiently stable to host permanent data (with lots of
backup ;-)

We have regular exports of JISC PIMS data promised, so we can automate the update of
those.

OhLoh data import works well so we can bring in data from a great many third parties.

So, in summary I think we will be ready to host a reasonably stable instance within
one month.
