Please add the ability to scrape Clear Logos, Clear Art, season thumbs, and show thumbs from the above websites (preferably fanart.tv).

Many XBMC skins use these files for display.

Can you explain exactly what these extra files are and how they should be named/sorted?

Clear Logos and Clear Art are two images used by some XBMC skins as below (upper left corner is an example):
http://www.themurrayworld.com/xbmc/night/147/episode.png
They should be saved in the root directory of a show. For instance, if my show was Lost, my file structure would be something like TV\Lost\Season 1\. They should be saved as logo.png and clearart.png in the TV\Lost\ directory.

Season Thumbs and show thumbs are 16x9 images also used by XBMC (the Dexter image, and there are more Clear Logos at the top).
http://www.themurrayworld.com/xbmc/night/147/tv-land.png
They would be saved in that same root directory as above (TV\Lost\) and would be named "Showname".tbn (e.g. Lost.tbn) and seasonX.tbn (e.g. season6.tbn).

Some skins allow for you to scrape it from XBMC, but I'd like to avoid this extra step if possible.

I personally use the clearlogos (logo.png), would be nice to have these. Only a very select few skins actually have support for this built in though. The default skin (confluence) and several others do not have it supported but you can add it pretty easily: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=71954

Hi y'all,

i wanted to add a "+1 Me too!", but one shall not do that ;). So, instead, i'll add a

http://xbmc.org/natethomas/2011/06/22/whats-going-on-solstice-edition/

which show's what really could be done with this feature-request ;).

Look reeeeeeeeeeally nice in XBMC, please add ;)

yes this would be a great feature to have in SB. then you won't have to use an extra program to scrape your series to pimp out XBMC. also what would be nice is instead of only adding the TheTVDB link of the serie in the nfo is to download all the info into the nfo file then XBMC doesn't have to scrape on the internet but just reads the nfo file and puts that into its database.

So which files are going to be officially supported by XBMC and which files are only supported by select skins?

I think everything is on a per-skin basis, and confluence doesn't use 'em. Quite a few others do, though. logo.png (clearlogo in the fanart.tv api) and clearart.png (clearart in the api) are the ones I know Aeon Nox uses.

I currently have a shell script that just sucks down the first logo+clearart returned by the api, but it'd be nice for sickbeard to get them for me.

A large number of XBMC skins have support built in for these files so far. They don't show up in the default skin (confluence) unless you manually add them though.

Most skins have support for: clearart.png, landscape.jpg, and logo.png

The image files would be stored in the root of the show folder, so the folder structure would look like this:

ShowName
banner.jpg
clearart.png
fanart.jpg
folder.jpg
landscape.jpg
logo.png
poster.jpg
extrafanart
 fanart1.jpg
 fanart2.jpg
Season 1
Season 2

address this when xbmc eden comes out (just over a month away). folder/fanart/logo are the major ones. banner/poster/landscape isn't always supported as some skins make you pick one or the other of these and call it folder. extrafanart also isnt always supported :(

MediaBrowser also supports Clear Logo and Clear Art images. It uses the same file naming and folder structure as XBMC. It also supports show\season thumbs saved as thumb.(jpg|png)

I've been working on this for the XBMC implementation. Since I only use XBMC, that is all I've been focusing on so far. However, it would be really easy to get it working for the other metadata types as well. All I need are the naming conventions for each metadata type (If they exist).

If anybody knows those conventions, please post them like smid did in #12:

ShowName
banner.jpg
clearart.png
fanart.jpg
folder.jpg
landscape.jpg
logo.png
poster.jpg
extrafanart
 fanart1.jpg
 fanart2.jpg
Season 1
Season 2

Also indicate which type of metadata it is for.

I plan on using the XBMC convention as the default for all extra artwork.

I have just submitted a pull request for my implementation of this feature:

You can test it out by cloning my fork here: https://github.com/Boehemyth/Sick-Beard
