issue 12 (The shut down dialog appears with a delay after canceling ou...) commented on by I_am_the...@yahoo.com   -   It's just a minor nuisance, as I said, the program resumes normal functionality after a few minutes. I reported it because I thought it could be caused by some exception in the program that may cause further problems along the way. Thank you for the reply :).

issue 12 (The shut down dialog appears with a delay after canceling ou...) reported by I_am_the...@yahoo.com   -   What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Press the computer's power button (just to be clear I am talking about the computer's physical button, not the one in the Windows start menu) 2. Cancel out of the shut down screen and press the button a second time What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The shut down dialog should appear instantly, instead there is a delay of roughly 1-2 minutes between pressing the power button and the dialog being displayed. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? I'm using version 0.4 on Windows 7 Please provide any additional information below. The program resumes normal functionality if a few minutes pass between the cancel and the second press of the power button. The shut down button in the start menu brings up the shut down dialog even after canceling out from a previous shut down dialog.

issue 11 (Failed to stop WinRAR shuting down PC) commented on by recover89   -   Hi. This is most likely because WinRAR is forcing the shutdown. As of right now there isn't much you can do about it other than trying out PatchApps. I am aware that PatchApps most likely trigger warnings in antivirus programs, since patching other programs looks very suspicious. I will add some text about it on the wiki page, thanks for noting that. Have you considered reporting the issue to the makers of WinRAR? I mean, they shouldn't be forcing a shutdown. If they don't tell Windows to force it, then ShutdownGuard can intercept it easily, without PatchApps. Secondly they should put the Shutdown button in a place that isn't so easily clicked by mistake. Thanks for reporting. :)

issue 11 (Failed to stop WinRAR shuting down PC) commented on by The.Gunslinger.Needfulthingzs   -   Follow-up Have now added WinRAR.exe to the patch apps list and turned on patchapps function, can't test right now due to upload tasks (dont wont to lose them for a second time today !) will test later and report back. What i can report right now is that patchapps WILL trigger a warning in 99% of AV programs, so you need to create a rule for it (an addition about this on the wiki page might be advisable ;) )

issue 11 (Failed to stop WinRAR shuting down PC) reported by The.Gunslinger.Needfulthingzs   -   What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Running v0.4 status Enabled 2. ini file settings, Silent=0, PatchApps=0, PatchList=setup.exe| msiexec.exe 3. Run WinRAR v3.90 beta 1, accidentally select shut down computer after task What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect to get a warning shut down was prevented, and then nothing else to happen... what actually happens is i get the message, then ShutdownGuard either crashes or is terminated and then the machine shuts down What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Win XP Pro 32bit SP2 latest version of ShutdownGuard (0.4) Please provide any additional information below. I installed this SPECIFICALLY for this scenario, because i do a lot of packing in WinRAR and it is way too easy when the pc is working hard to get a delayed click on that area or accidental double click when coming out of the password entry box in WinRAR and inadvertently select the shutdown option. As it stands it's pointless having ShutDownGuard running if it cant do the task

issue 7 (ShutdownGuard does not work on Windows 7 *beta* (!=RC1)) commented on by arbeitslooser1   -   Yes, but please don't overextend yourself :) I've got plenty of time tomorrow so I will probably put an end to the W7 beta very soon, because these shutdowns are annoying. (although I have coded a nifty DOS script which does a somewhat sophisticated system date hack, but sometimes it WILL still shutdown, so I have no 1 wk+ uptimes anymore :)) Anyway, excellent work, really.

issue 7 (ShutdownGuard does not work on Windows 7 *beta* (!=RC1)) commented on by recover89   -   When you try PatchApps for testing purposes, you might want to comment out the PatchList. If you don't do that, then PatchApps will only try to patch programs in the PatchList. I would suspect that there will be some kind of system process that shuts down windows... it would help to know what process it is. Anyway, hopefully I will improve PatchApps later on.

issue 7 (ShutdownGuard does not work on Windows 7 *beta* (!=RC1)) commented on by arbeitslooser1   -   OK back from testing ... as the shutdown appears to be evoked in a sort of protected mode, it didn't care about PatchApps at all, as I assumed. To see what the betas do, refer also here. http://coolbusteratyourservice.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-to-disable-auto-shutdown-of-windows.html

issue 7 (ShutdownGuard does not work on Windows 7 *beta* (!=RC1)) commented on by arbeitslooser1   -   Well, I promise to test this (since you put so much work, interest and efforts into that) but I don't see much chance indeed. Because: The auto-shutdown forced by the betas is not related to applications at all: it will also happen if Windows 7b is left idle for 2 hours, just because the system date is past 01/07/2009. Yes, with a nifty script which sets and restores the system date you can use this installation past 1 July without problems (as now here). This auto-shutdown is *NOT* related to running client applications at all, so how can PatchApps do any good here? Yet I will test...
