I started out at Victoria & Garfield Sts., and wanted to end up at Sansome
& Washington. I went for the most bike-friendly route (less hills), and
everything was fine until it took me down San Jose Ave.  There, the
bike-friendliness ends abruptly, and I'm faced with car traffic at freeway
exit speed, and the only choices are to grow wings or grab my bike and run
for the shoulder!! After that, my ride to Valencia and Market was
