Senuti quick start
This section will help you get you started with Senuti as quickly as possible. It outlines steps you must take to prepare your iPod, simple copying, and a few basic features of the application. For more advanced features, read the section on using Senuti and iTunes together.
Preparing your iPod
If you don't have a backup of the songs on you iPod, you should read the more detailed instructions for preparing your iPod. The basics for how to prepare your iPod are as follows:
- Launch iTunes with your iPod disconnected
- Hold down the Command (Apple) and Option keys (this disables auto-sync)
- Continue to hold the keys down as you plug in your iPod
- After your iPod appears in iTunes, you can release the keys
- Click on your iPod in iTunes
- Under the "Summary" tab choose "Enable disk use"
- You're all set up!
Copying songs to your computer
To copy songs back to your computer, all you have to do is select the songs and click the transfer button in the upper left hand corner of the application.
The songs will be copied to the your computer. They will be added to iTunes if you enabled the preference to automatically add them to iTunes. For more information, read about using Senuti with iTunes.
Copying to a different location
To copy songs to a location other than your "Music" folder, open the preferences and switch to the copying pane. The save location can be changed by choosing an option in the drop down menu.
You can select any folder on your computer as the save location for Senuti, and songs will get copied to that folder.
Other preferences
Senuti also includes other preferences to make copying songs from your iPod to your computer more convenient. By default, songs are copied into folders by artist and album. Also, if you copy a song to a location that already has a song with the same title, a similar name is used by default. Both of these preferences are easily changed in the copying section of the preferences.

iTunes doesn't give me the option to "Enable Disk Use" on the iPhone "Summary" tab, is this because of a new update or am I just stupid and can't find it?
You must use the current beta version with an iPhone.
i have the same problem with my touch. what is the current beta version?
0.50.2b7
Does this work with Leopard?
Of course.
I am trying to use the beta version for my iphone, could you please go into detail on how to do this?
Just don't enable disk use (since you can't). Everything else is the same as in these tutorials.
I am trying to get songs from my iphone that I did not get from itunes. how can i get those songs out?
Use the hide songs feature from the view menu to hide songs already in iTunes.
