Set Reader Notifier as the default reader in Safari prefs (3.1.1) and it does not work. Even after restarting both Safari and Reader Notifier. (OSX 10.5.2) Any suggestions?
I have been trying out Reader Notifier for some days now.
One problem I run into is, that as soon as I have about 10 unread items the count shows 600 or more items. When I am down to zero unread items the count is down again, begins with a small number again, and boom, it's up to 600 and more. Don't know why this is happening.
Moreover the 'always use secure connection' immediately gets forwareded to a non https connection.
Anyone experiencing the same problems?
I just tried the app. One thing that is bugging me. I want to be able to "mark as read" even tough there is more than 50 feeds shown. If i set the max to 10 feeds shown, i cant mark as read if there is more than 10 items.
Is there anyone who knows a fix for this?
I just installed and configured the app. Now the menu icon for Reader Notifier has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. Does this mean there was an error? If so, how can I find out the specific error?
It appears Reader Notifier poorly handled filtering for a tag with spaces and a dash in it. When I switched to a tag with no spaces or dash, it worked fine.
Torrentcast doesn't work...
I had the same issue with filtering with a tag that contains a space - Notifier says it can't connect. Using a tag without a space works fine.
I would like to know how to display multiple tags but not all of them. Right now I can only filter the feeds to a single tag, I cannot add another tag via space, semicolon, comma or period. Please help!
Hi I am looking for a way to edit the update interval. I found timeDelay in the source but I can't find the part where the 5, 10, 15, 30, 60 and 120mins list is defined. Can anyone help me?
I think the "Mark All As Read" is broken. Either Google changed that way that it marks things as read or what. For example, I have 1 unread news item. I see the title and am not interested in it, so I hit "Mark all as Read." It tells me "WARNING. There are new unread items available online. Mark all as read has been canceled." That's all nice and well, but then I continue to only have 1 new item, which is the same item I tried to mark as read. I try "Check Now" to see if it updates, but there's nothing new which would stop the "mark all as read." I've tried deleting the app and the associated plist file and reinstalling, but nothing is working? Is anyone else having this issue?
GREAT APP! I just switched from Firefox to Camino, and now I can't use the great Google Reader Watcher add-on. This was a great substitute! One of my favorite parts about the Watcher add-on, though, was that the tooltip showed not only the number of unread items - but the number of unread items in each feed (sorted by label - see a screenshot at my blog here:
). Any way to implement this into Reader Notifier? This would probably make this app perfect (for me at least)! Great job and thanks a ton!
1.10 seems to frequently get 'stuck' after internet connectivity is lost, and it never recovers. Restarting the app resolves it, but it just happens again. This seems to be increasing in frequency. Is there a known issue?
looks like the pasword won't save..or I don't know. but it works when i type my password again <a href='http://bildr.no/view/412954'>http://bildr.no/view/412954</a>
same for me ... it always says "no password in keychain" but I entered username/password, and it is 100% correct. Tried multiple times, no change. Also, could you maybe add an option to hide the menubar icon, like most menubar things have? This is because I only have a 13 " screen and if I displayed every menubar thing half the menubar would be filled with icons I think.
it would be very nice to have an option to choose which feed is displayed in the menu bar.
Everytime I enter in my username and password I get"Unable to connect to Google with user details". Running Snow Leopard, but I don't know if that should make a difference. Have never been able to get it to resolve.
Similar to portenkirchner's problem, the unread count jumps from 20 to 488+. Otherwise, works great.
I changed the "maximum number of items to display" setting from 20 to 50. Now the unread count works up until 50, then jumps to 521+.
Is it just me or does torrentcasting do nothing?
I am having the same issue as @stevelucky. "Unable to connect to Google with user details". Snow Leopard 10.6
I am also seeing my torrentcasts do nothing. I see 5 unread torrent items and no sign of a .torrent file being downloaded to the location I specified. Has anyone got it to work or should I give up now?
Can not connect to google with snow leopard "Unable to connect to Google with user details"
I have the same problem "Unable to connect to Google with user details", the message appeared after installing Snow Leopard
I've managed to fix problems so that reader-notifier works with Snow Leopard. It is just a matter of initializing error variables to nil and recompiling. I will try to pass this on to developer so that a new version can be released.
@bucweat any chance of you being able to make that fix available for download?
i am running snow leopard, what can i do to make reader notifier work?
hey guys, it appears as though the original developer is MIA or doesn't care to fix this, so a kind soul has taken the liberty to fix it for us. you can grab the updated version here, http://bit.ly/qzsiC
I've made some new menubar icons for Reader Notifier - screen shot can be seen here. Happy for them to be bundled in the next version. If you would like a copy of them in the meantime - catch me on twitter @oliverwaters - http://twitpic.com/gjsb9
I had issues connecting with Snow, but the version linked to by bburdick worked a treat
I put Reader Notifier on github.com with an updated download for Snow Leopard. Maybe the development gets more active there than here on code.google.com.
Re-designed Reader Notifier menubar icon set - Now available for download: http://bit.ly/3myPcb
I have noticed with 1.10 that when I have more than 1000 unread, it displays 1000. With 1.09 and before I'd get an actual count. Odd.
Downloadable package with Snow Leopard fixes: http://github.com/wharris/readernotifier/downloads
Thanks wharris! it works on SL.
