Step 1 : Install from Market
I suppose that it's already done. If not, go with your phone to Market Application and search for Proxoid.
When found, click on the Proxoid item and select "Install" button.
The only permission needed by Proxoid is to be abble to acces Internet (Network communication).
click on "Ok" button and wait for completion.
Step 2 : Configure your phone
Proxoid will communicate with your phone via USB.
It will use a feature that is usally used for application Developpement.
This feature have to be enabled on your phone.
Without it, it can't work.
Go to home by pressing "Home" button on your phone. (Your phone's home, not Proxoid's).
Press "Menu" buttn and select "Settings".
Select "Application" item.
Then "Developpenent" item.
Be sure that "USB debugging" checkbox is checked.
You can now configure your computer :
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista
- Linux
- MacOS

omg! somebody please help me make this thing work, I really wanna leave a good comment for the application on my g1, but im going nuts my retard of a laptop wont let me add a new driver for my phone, and i cant get past that step, please help me out!!! i can get this to work in the end..but ive had to reinstall drivers and ran into similar problems. search for a program called USBdeview and you can delete the existing android drivers. then try installing these new ones and it should work. very useful program for a lot of installation issues with many things. if anyone can get this to work without the stupid "ubuntu" that would be awesome!

If you open proxoid and press menu, it gives you the option to dl the driver to your phone. Unfortunately, thats as far as I can get. When I plug my phone in, i'm never asked to install drivers. Can I just open the folder and initiate the install on my own?
Works great for me (Motorola Droid). Does this proxy only support port 80, though?

I am not sure if anyone else has seen this, but I have found that the connection will keep from dropping as much if you also select the setting to keep the screen on when the phone is plugged in... hopefully this may help someone, or maybe someone could try it out and confirm it one way or another... charlie.delong -at- gmail -dot- com
Milestone, Win7 X64 - Can't get it working with MotoConnect? USB 4.20 x64 drivers, Google SDK revision 3 drivers, or the Proxoid drivers, in neither "Memory card management" mode, "Windows media sync" mode nor "Motorola phone tools" mode, with any of the above drivers. Any ideas?

I hope this helps for folks not able to install the software: If you are using XP, go into the proxoid-adb\usb_driver\x86 folder and right click on the android_usb file, click install and that will resolve the issue, or at least it did for me.
The same would be true for win7 but selecting the amd64 folder and file (unless your running the 32bit version).

Thank you philclay71, ever since my Eris upgraded from 1.6 to 2.1 it has been frustrating that Proxoid wouldn't work due to the computer not finding the phone. Doing what you said somehow fixed the issue.

Thank you, this was a great application. Works perfectly. I am a computer engineering student, so not so difficult for me to set it up, but it might be more difficult to set it up if one is not so experienced, however following the explanations on this site, it should be possible to get it running.
(For the record, I set it up with a Android Tatoo and Running Windows 7 Pro (32bit) on a Dell Inspiron 1520. I only checked to see if a web-connection could be made. It worked, I'd eventually like to see if I can set up ssh-connections as well, but I haven't looked too hard into that yet. But I guess it should be possible somehow.

Excellent app and service you have provided here. After my ISP abruptly decided to not service my area anymore, and not having internet is not an option, I began looking for solutions. I came upon this app via my HTC Hero. I downloaded the zip file, transferred it to my PC, followed the instructions step by step, and here I am 10 minutes later with full internet on my home PC via my HTC Hero. Thanks a lot man!
