What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Try to install PocketGuitar via Installer What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Expected is a working PocketGuitar app. It shows up on SpringBoard after relaunching it, but it cannot be launched. In Installer.app, it doesn't show under "Uninstall". Trying to install it again failes with the same error What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? iPhone 1.1.2. - jailbroken |

Exactly the same issue here: I use an 1.1.2 Iphone (IPSF unlocked). When I try to start the application I get a black screen for approximately 2 second (status bar on top still visible) then my iphone switches back to the main screen. My iphone runs on german language, but when I switch to English everything is the same. Has anyone an idea how I can put away the program icon from the start screen? Which files do I have do delete? |

I also get: Main script execution failed! The icon is there but as a launch it the screen goes black and then returns to springboard. |

same to me: black screen with status bar, then back to springboard. But uninstall worked fine for me... (1.1.2) |

I'm having the exact same problem. Won't launch, but I can uninstall via installer.app 1.1.1 |

The installation script extracts MP3 files into raw wavetable files. If you have an SSH access to your iPhone, can you execute following script and post the output? /bin/sh /Applications/PocketGuitar.app/extract_samples.sh Also, if you want to remove your partially-installed PocketGuitar app, remove following folders: /Applications/PocketGuitar.app /var/root/Media/PocketGuitar |

I think it could fail if BSD subsystem isn't installed to your iPhone - if you have installation failures, can you tell me if BSD subsystem is installed or not? |
|||||||||||||

I have the BSD subsystem installed but had the same problem as above, installed the app and got the Main script execution failed msg. The App is there, but it won't sart. |

I got this to work by reinstalling BSD subsystem and then reinstalling the pocket guitar.app |

FIXED: I am not a member of this development group, but I have found a solution. This was stated above, but I have confirmed that it works. If you have trouble installing: 1) Make sure you have the BSD Subsystem installed, and if you don't get it. BSD Lite doesn't count. 2) Uninstall/Delete all current PocketGuitar files through either installer, iBrickr, SSH, or a filesystem like Finder on the device. 3) Reinstall the BSD Subsystem. You can do this by entering Installer, going to Uninstall, then pressing the BSD Subsystem package. You'll notice that the usual "Uninstall" button has been replaced by a "Reinstall" one. Press it and voila, reinstalled BSD Subystem. Remember to restart the device before continuing. 4) Go back to Installer and reinstall the PocketGuitar package. It should work. You're done! Test this out, everyone, and devTeam, post this if it works after testing. |

Installing the BSD-Subsystem fixed the Error. I just installed again and everything worked! Nice application! Maybe you should add a feature to chose chords (like Nint**do DSs "jam sessions"). |

Yeah, it worked! Thanks a lot! And great App! Thanks a lot! |

I can't delete the folder /var/root/Media/PocketGuitar I am trying to do it by ssh using fugu. Any reason or another way I should do it? |
|||||||||||||
,
Jan 21, 2008
With Fugu you can only erase empty folders. That means you have to erase all the date in the folders, and the folders inside the folders so you can erase that one. I had the same problem and googled it. Cheers! |

I'm on 1.1.2 and I am having similar problems. Tried with the bsd subsystem after rebooting and got the same thing. Tried running the script in pocketguitar and it complained about the lack of the folder where the samples are going. I manually created the folder and tried the script again. It went instantly to the next line in terminal and doesn't appear to have done anything. Trying again. 1 removed the 2 pocketguitar items (sample folder didn't exist) 2 relaunched springboard, pocketguitar isn't there 3 reinstalled bsd subsystem again 4 rebooted phone 5 tried to install pocketguitar again 6 . . . not showing in springboard 7 rebooted springboard, pocketguitar showing 8 . . . nope. Just hanging at a black screen. Still have the same situation, PocketGuitar in Apps, but no folder for the samples. |

I had the problem with the failed installation, turns out my iPhone did not have sed installed. Installing sed fixed the problem, and now everything works great. |

Hi, I have the same problem. I deleted all the pocketguitar files but the app doesn't appear in the installer. |
|||||||||||||
,
Jan 22, 2008
Perhaps, try chmoding the executable, +x? |
|||||||||||||
,
Jan 22, 2008
It will be fixed in 0.2 - it won't require BSD subsystem any longer.

I'm on 1.1.2 Jailbreak (English) and I've tried all of the above...and nothing works...Even after deleting Pocket Guitar, reinstalling BSD, restarting iphone and reinstalling Pocket Guitar....now the pocket guitar icon won't come up... :( After so many hours of screwing around without success, I give up and yield... I = Very unhappy... Does it matter that installer is sing BSD 1.5 and not 2.0?? Developers - Can't wait for a trouble-free, plug and play version to come out... |

Hang on...GET THIS...BEFORE FOLLOWING THE ABOVE STEPS READ THIS! After following the above procedures now NO MORE NEWLY ADDED APPS CAN BE ADDED... F***ING FANTASTIC! Gotta love them apps.... Very unhappy has now risen to now extremely unhappy...further unhappiness shall lead to 'Going Postal.' |

I think The only problem is the Pocketguitar app can't create a folder in "/private/var/root/Media/PocketGuitar" because the MEDIA folder is protected. i try to change the attribute for MEDIA folder but it keeps coming back to original permission. anyone know how to remove the Folder permission in "private/var/root/Media/"? cause basically you cant make any folder inside of MEDIA folder. NO WRITE PERMISSION for EVERYONE and GROUP only the OWNER has. the POCKETGUITAR should be installed in "private/var/root/Media/PocketGuitar" and i cant move files and folder there. =( HELP PLS! |

Hello Everybody, I have found the solution by myself, just by tryin it out how it possibly works, you don't have to f*ck with the bsd-subsystem or something else. I am running 1.1.2 , For iphone-users who has trouble with the problem 'Can't find the host' when you want to install it her is the solution: step 1. First of all you have to have installed the source: ModMyiFone - http://modmyifone.com/installer.xml ( you can find lots of information in google how to add a repository in the installer) Step 2. Now you can find the app '' pocket guitar'' in installer in the category 'toys'. Step 3. Go again to installer and add the following url in 'source': http://repo.smxy.org/iphone-apps/ after installing this you have to go to installer and --> go to 'toys' and then to 'pocket guitar' (after step 1. you have to see 'pocket guitar' in the list, then click on 'install'. Step4. Now you first will see a lot choices --> 'install' 'add to Queue' or 'remove from Queue' 'clear list' 'cancel' you must before installing remove all pocket guitar data you have installed before, so click on 'remove from queue' and 'clear list' if you see these two choices. the list must be clear and FINALLY you can install the 'pocket guitar', I did it so you must also be ablo to do that! and it WORKS!!! I hope that i have helped you guys with this, have a nice iphone time. byee |
