This is a simple Mac OS X Dashboard widget for posting to the Ping.fm social aggregator service.
You can use this to post to Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook, Myspace, and zillions more.
This is a micro-client for micro-blogging. It's small, fast, and it stays out of the way.
Features of this widget:
- It's a Dashboard widget, so it has that going for it
- Allows all types of posting, including custom triggers
- Once you have chosen a method or trigger, you can individually enable/disable target services within it for a single post -- good for distributing / retweeting something you've already posted in one place
- Keeps a message history, which you can edit and re-post in case of error or lack of creativity
- Shows the Ping.FM message history, including messages posted from other clients or the web site
- Has both a front and a back, and a previously only theorized third side for error messages
- Is not unnecessarily attractive, to discourage frivolous posting.
- Multiple account support (one per widget instance)
Installation
Simply download the DMG, open it, and double click the Widget file. It will install and ask you for your Ping.FM app key. You must already have a Ping.FM account. If you do but don't know your app key, just click the "Get Key" button on the widget's config screen.
Ping.FM is still in closed beta. Search Twitter or ask a friend for a beta code if you need it. You can also find the invite code on the #ping.fm IRC channel on Freenode.
Usage
0. Bring up dashboard (F12 or whatever your shortcut is) 1. Choose the service/target you want from the pulldown menu 2. Enter your message 3. Click Post.
See the Help Page in the Wiki for more information.
Screen Shots
See the Downloads tab for all the screenshots.
Showing multiple instances of an older version on a single Dashboard, for the bifurcated of personality with two or more Ping.FM accounts, or one account with different default settings -- e.g. one for blogs and one for status updates.

WARNING
The source code in Google's SVN is far out of date, so be sure to use the Github repo.
