issue 448 (Facebookchat sometimes causes pidgin to crash) reported by vahag1991   -   I'm currently using facebookchat 1.53, and pidgin v2.5.8 on Ubuntu 32-bit Linux. And I've noticed that recently after facebookchat 1.52, pidgin started intermittently crashing. I tried running it in the terminal, and I get this error when it crashes: Json:ERROR:json-scanner.c:894:json_scanner_get_unichar: assertion failed: (g_unichar_validate (uchar)) And the thing is, I think this generally happens when I'm logged on to facebook in my browser, and then my session times out. Once that happens, pidgin crashes and when I start it again, it keeps crashing once it connects to facebook. If I quickly disable the Facebook protocol, then pidgin works fine, but once I enable it again it crashes. I generally have to wait a while until the Facebookchat plugin starts working again. Thanks a lot for all the work you've done on this plugin, it's made pidgin much more useful. Thank you.

Unless there are some bad restrictions on the Facebook side (web interface), it would be great if the functionality was similar to that of Google Talk: i.e. login of Google Talk inside Gmail web interface is separate from login with Pidgin (and when the latter is closed, the web interface Google Talk still remains offline).

issue 340 (Takes a long time to show self as idle.) Summary changed by pidgi...@gmail.com   -   FYI, we reevaluated this bug one more time and we were able to confirm that Pidgin will set you offline eventually. This has been tested with all combinations of Pidgin preferences. Due to the way the Facebook protocol is designed, when Pidgin goes idle/away there will be an additional 10+ minute lag before you idle on Facebook. There is a potential workaround for this, but it requires a rewrite of the Pidgin Idle API. This is a long ways away, so in the near future this will not be fixed.

Ubuntu 9.04/32Bit What is the problem? Displaying IM history in new conversations conflicts with Pidgin's message logging. The history displayed by the fb plugin shows up as a normal conversation and gets saved together with the new conversation once again. That is, the new logfile also contains the last conversation (already logged into a different file). Anyway, this functionality is better handled by the history plugin of Sean Egan which is part of Pidgin, if I'm not mistaken. I had to revert to 1.52. Hope I made myself clear... Cheers!
