This happens because we download the history when opening a chat window. There's a sync issue here that we download the history at the same time as receiving a new message, which makes the first message look doubled up.

ferry.fadly, that double-up in yahoo is a bug in Pidgin. This issue is to deal with a double-up error in the Facebook plugin... two separate things :) |

This issue is horrible now. It seems like if someone starts a conversation with you, it downloads the last conversation you had with them, which has slowed my Dell Inspiron 1000 to a crawl a number of times. |

Hi mail@majkl578.cz (could you use your real name?), are you sure, you are using version "1.63" and not "1.53"? If you're still on 1.53, you should upgrade, of course. Otherwise, please try to be more specific on the problem. Are those buddies in certain groups? Adrian |

I have version 1.63-1 from Debian repository (package pidgin-facebookchat). I am using facebook for three days and therefore I have only a little contacts, no groups etc. It happens every time - doesn't matter whether the contact is online or offline, when I open chat window, I recieve whole conversation again. As I said, it happens only for some contacts. Actually, only with one. I've tried to reproduce this problem with others, but unsuccessfully. |

I'm using V 1.64, the Windows .dll version with Pidgin 2.6.2 hand rolled "portable" on my USB drive. Each message I send is echoed back to me with a numeric "sender id" and each response I get from a buddy goes in a separate tab with a numeric "sender id". This issue makes the Facebook plugin unusable for me. I've observed this function both on my USB copy and the "portable" copy I run from my hard disk at home. Kevin. |

kb9wob, your issue is slightly different and is addressed at http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-facebookchat/wiki/ FAQ#Why_do_I_get_messages_from_random_numbers_whenever_I_send/receiv Basically, you need to get a new json-glib dll |

Yeah, that seemed to take care of the problem. RTFM, fail. ::facepalm::. Thanks for the patience with the user error. |
