Theres a login error of "Ocorreu um erro. Tente entrar novamente." I'm not sure
what that translates to though... What's that in english?
Also, you are using an old version of the plugin. Can you update to the latest
version (currently v1.50)

Maybe I've found the problem.

I've just updated to 1.52 (with pidgin 2.5.7) (on Fedora 10, I'm the maintainer for it)

I've discovered I can't really login. See the log for details.

Looking for tips I've saw the recomendation to test accessing http://login.facebook.com

As it recognized my cookie, of course it brought me to my main user page.

Just logout

Again accessed http://login.facebook.com

Now, the page give me this message:
«Estás iniciando sesión desde un lugar desconocido. Por tu seguridad, verifica tu
cuenta. This check prevents others from accessing your account without your
permission. If your password is stolen through a phishing site, for example, this
step keeps your account safe. You will not be prompted every time. For additional
information please see http://www.facebook.com/security.Aprender más...»

This means «you are login from an unkown place...» after that it asks for my birth
date trying to confirm myself.

I've confirmed my birht date, and entered. Just then the plugin could authenticate.

I'm not fully sure if this was _really_ the problem because in the middle the website
gave me some non availabilty errors.

FYI

Just wanted to add, I'm using Arch Linux currently, and the repo now has version
1.54, which seems to have solved the problem. I had tried installing version 1.54
manually and it didn't work. So for me the issue seems to have been resolved.

Hi guys,

i'm having the exact same problem as reported above. The plugin returns the error
code 1348009 right after it parses the buddy list (according to the debug log).
Authentication seemed to be successful before.

After being frustrated I asked one of my friends to use my system and login with his
credentials and it worked all fine with his account. We then tried to figure out, if
some of my account settings were incorrect but did not find anything suspicious.

Pidgin 2.5.7
1.52 version plugin
Win XP sp3 32 bit

BTW: I have a mobile client for facebook installed on my Symbian S60 phone which
neither works with my account. Unfortunately I cannot debug anything on the device.

Cheers,
alex

Hi

I'm still having this problem. I have Pidgin 2.5.8 and the plugin 1.60. I haven't
gotten Pidgin to connect to Facebook once, not with this or with the earlier versions
of the program/plugin I had. I am not all that good with computers, so I might just
have some settings wrong, but I'm gettinf frustrated here so if someone could help it
would be great. Attached is the log of what happens when I try to connect to the
facebook account through Pidgin.

riikka.koivula, can you set the debug level to "All" and attach a new debug log.
Please don't use a word doc next time though please :) .rtf is good, or even just
plain .txt
Comment 18 by riikka.koivula, Jul 29, 2009
Haha, I already messed up, way to go me. (: Now attached is a new log, although I'm
still not sure if it's right. But hopefully it at least better.

riikka.koivula, it looks like something along the way is disconnecting you. Do you
have to use a proxy server for port 80 traffic?
Comment 20 by schwarcz.facebook, Oct 29, 2009

I'm using purple-facebookchat 1.52-1 , and Pidgin 2.5.8 on a Fedora 9.

schwarcz.facebook, you are using an old version of the plugin.
Comment 22 by brutus.bagrovic, Nov 04, 2009
After update to latest pidgin-facebook-chat is all ok. No need to udate its
dependencies (i edited deb package and erased all dependencies) it work fine (pidgin
2.6.3, libpurple 2.6.2, ubuntu hardy).
Comment 23 by awhitm...@hartford.edu, Nov 04, 2009
I have both pidgin 2.6.3 and the latest facebook plugin, and I get the confirmation
thing asking to clarify my DoB as well, though I am in Windows 7.
Comment 24 by mabroukskander, Nov 16, 2009
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, pidgin 2.6.2.
when i want to connect to facebook, it asks me my birthdate. i enter my birthdate,
then it asks me to accept a certificate and i accept. Finally i'm usually not connected!!
i don't know what's the problem ? is it from the plugin or from facebook server?

if you have any idea, please tell me.

thanks.
Comment 25 by parallaxtz, Nov 16, 2009
