Generating excel from php really bugs me. There are a lot of solutions out there, but each one is quite complex and doesn't focus on quick solutions. You have to include terabytes of libraries and generating documents fails from time to time.

I was messing around with excel exports from the MySQL Query Browser recently and discovered that this application delivers excel documents in native xml - readable by excel 2003 (WinXP SP2) without any problems. I may create a clone here, but I'll focus on creating a very small library, simple and well-structured.
