Known issues and workarounds

Important Details

  • Your PHP setup will need to have the libcurl and XML libraries installed in order for this plugin to work.
  • This plugin may not work well if your WordPress blog is installed on a Microsoft IIS web server.
  • WordPress permalinks need to be enabled and set to something other than “Default”.
  • Please check the Flickr group if you are having problems with this plugin. Chances are somebody else encountered it before and a solution was posted to the forum.

Common Issues

API Key Issues

Make sure your API key authentication type is set to Desktop Application. This is important.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: curl_init()

You need to have the CURL PHP library installed. See here for setup instructions.

Oops! Flickr can't find a valid callback URL.

This probably means your server can't communicate with the outside world, and more importantly, the Flickr.com servers. To verify that your server is able to make calls to Flickr.com, install this PHP script in the webroot on your server, and open it in your browser. If it works, then you should see an "OK" message. Otherwise, you'll see an error, which means your server can't communicate with the Flickr.com servers.

Infinite Redirects

You'll need to set your WordPress permalinks to something other than the "Default" settings. See here for more information

The look and feel of the photo page doesn't match my site

If the photo pages looks slightly off (eg missing sidebars, footers are in weird places), then you'll need to tweak the plugin template files to match your theme. See here for more details.

Plugin view pages don't work with port numbers, for example: www.website.com:1974.

Port numbers are used quite often on testing or development servers.

The plugin seems to work fine the majority of the time, but the past few weeks my write post view is not showing any updated photos. Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. Don't know, how to show the gallery with my two standard sidebars of the blog. (http://www.padoko.at).

Is it possible to translate the Plugin?

Got this error, while trying to access the page Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /public_html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/CnM/photos.php on line 36

Comment by jamiemje...@gmail.com, Aug 1, 2008

I can't insert, clicking on a photo (and size) to insert displays the photo instead of actually inserting it.

Problem documented here: http://flickr.com/groups/tantannoodles/discuss/72157604790960838/

Why can't the server connect with flickr? I ran your script, and it says I can't, but I wanted to know why. Easy fix?

Comment by danneck, Jul 14, 2009

A large problem is the private image issue. FIX IT! =)

Comment by wegow...@gmail.com, Aug 28, 2009

After updating wordpress to 2.83 the flickr add media button doesnt work. It pulls up a overlay but does not populate the area with any photos, words or buttons. Unable to add photos using the tantan flickr "add media" button.

Deleted all media plugins (including Tantan)tested a new install for Tantan and receive same issue. All other features work...just can't add photos with the button.

Help, your plugin is the best, it can't die.

I have the same issue as wegowest above. At one point, the Flickr plugin was working great, but sometime several months ago it stopped inserting photos into my blog page when I told it to. If I click on a photo to add in the overlay, it does nothing.
