TOC

PingER comes pre-configured, but it is possible to add and delete from this basic list of hosts.

PingER Config Step 1

Like most of the GUIs it is necessary to log in with the knoppix user or some other configured username.

PingER Config Step 2

The GUI looks like this by default, populated with several services.

PingER Config Step 3

To add a host to an existing domain, mouse over the domain to find an additional menu/

PingER Config Step 4

Enter in the node name, e.g. the hostname without the domain.

PingER Config Step 5

Another menu will appear with specific information about test to perform.

If the system could not look up the address of the host it will appear as 255.255.255.255. If this is the case, be sure to enter the proper address.

PingER Config Step 6

If you would like to add a node to a domain that is not present, add the domain first.

Follow steps 3, 4, and 5 to add a node to the new domain.

PingER Config Step 7

When you have added new hosts, use the Save MP Landmarks XML button to save all changes.

PingER Config Step 8

To select dynamic nodes from the perfSONAR infrastructure (e.g. other instances of the NPToolkit or other participating perfSONAR sites), navigate to the bottom of the page to see existing nodes.

PingER Config Step 9

After mousing over the instance, the ability to add it to the existing list will become available.

PingER Config Step 10

After adding, a small menu will appear with options for this host, adjust any as necessary.

Be sure to save the configuration as in step 7.
