An extension for the Google Chrome browser that aims to extend the functionality of Flickr.

Yes, Flickr is redesigning their pages, and a preview is available where Patr will not work, I am working on a fix for this and hope to have something out as soon as possible!

If you're using Chrome go over, install it, and try it out!

Introduction

My goal is to implement features that will best take advantage of features on Flickr that would make the experience even better!

At the moment I have currently implemented these fantastic features!

• Lightbox (image on a dark background)
• Darkr Flickr is a nice dark version of Flickr instead of white
• Quotr easy quoting of other users in discussion/comments
• Sendr quickly send your photo to multiple groups at once
• Add Referrer to Comments adapted from 6v8.gamboni.org
• EXIF Data directly on photo page under "Additional Information
• All Sizes Links for direct access to all available image sizes
• Move Additional Information higher on the page
• Flic.kr Short URLs
• Big Group Previews instead of wimpy, small thumbnails
• Eye Candy enhancements to the look and feel of Flickr

Lightbox

Lightbox can be toggled on/off by using either the keyboard (L), or by clicking on a photo on it's photo page. Lightbox has been updated since v0.1.5 to also work for photos marked private, but still viewable by you!

Darkr

Darkr is a dark browsing option to combat Flickrs stark white page. I hand-mangled a bunch of sprites and modified a bunch of css to make the dark pages work and still look like flickr as much as possible. Try it out if you want to see something a little different, you might just like it :)

Quotr

Quotr is an easy way to quote other users in discussion threads or photo comments. Just highlight anyones previous comment, and a box will appear that shows you what you've highlighted to quote, and an option to quote by their name or name + icon. The best part is that the word "said:" in the reply is also a link directly back to the quoted comment in the discussion!

Sendr

Sendr is a way to easily send your photo to multiple groups quickly from the photo page. I hated having to click on "Send to Group", pick a group, wait, get a response, and have to hit the button and start again. So this will drop down a table below your photo of all the groups you are a part of that you can send the photo to, and will add them to those groups as fast as you can click on them!

Add Referrer to Comments

I have adapted the "Add Referrer into Comments" script from 6v8.gamboni.org to work with Patr. Now when viewing a photo, your comment box will automatically be filled in with data on how you came to the photo (from a group, your contacts, a photostream, etc.). This really helps users know how you got to their picture.

EXIF Data

Finally added EXIF data on the photo page. It's currently located under "Additional Information" (near the link to get to the exif data originally). This works well with Move "Additional Information"...

Sizes

Links to all of the available sizes of a photo are now embedded just below the upload information on a photo page.

Move Additional Information

Now you can opt to move the "Additional Information" for a photo further up the right sidebar of the to be more prominent when viewing a photo. No longer will you have to scroll through a large list of set/pools that the photo also belongs in to see this information!

Flic.kr short URLs

Shortened Flic.kr URLs are now available directly in the "Additional Information" list. You can just right-click on the URL and copy the address for pasting into other services like Twitter, or to email or IM. You can see the Flic.kr link in the image above for "Move 'Additional Information'".

Big Group Previews

There is now an option to see a much larger sized preview of images in groups and your contacts. The old version had smaller images, this one uses the medium sized images instead.

Eye Candy

Various little tweaks to the UI of Flickr. These will be made optional shortly.

Update (2010.02.01) - v.0.1.9 - Options page now available for buddy icon reply! You can choose where the buddy options show up on a post (under name or in the message footer), as well as set a custom size for small icons. Also, a bold option for replying by name alone.

Update (2010.01.31) - v.0.1.8 - Fixed bug where buddy icon replies not working on multi-paged discussions.

Update (2010.01.31) - v.0.1.7 - Added option for quick reply (buddy icons) to show up in the footer of topic replies, instead of dropping down. Options page on the way to control this behaviour. Third option for buddy reply icons now ½ icon size!

Update (2010.01.30) - v.0.1.6 - Added a quick reply by name or image on discussion pages and photo comments. Just hover over a username in a comment or discussion! The image size links work on video! You can get direct links to each of the video shot sizes, full size link to the video itself, and download links for the video in .mp4 format!

Update (2010.01.28) - v.0.1.5 - Now works on private photos as well! Returns direct size links and lightbox functionality for images marked private (that you can see).

Update (2010.01.26) - v.0.1.3 - Added short Flic.kr link to "Additional Information" for all photos Added options page to toggle eye candy effects (drop shadows & round corners)

Update (2010.01.25) - v.0.1.2 - Added size information next to available sizes when hovering over links.
